I've long figured a true democracy where voters vote on everything isn't practical oweing to how many laws are passed day to day (except right now with the most 'do-nothing congress' in history.)

But one country is held up as the closest thing to a true democracy: Switzerland.

I don't think it's that so much as when ever income disparity reaches some critical tipping-point, the poor put the richs' heads on pikes as occured during the French revolution.

To put it another way: if a democracy-like system of government is supposed to determine things by majority consensus, but the rich minority is actually the only ones getting a say in things, it's just a matter of time before the poorer majority takes over.
