Rookie numbers, their grandfathers suffered 20K (times four wounded) in just the battle for Berlin.

Ahh, but there's a big difference between taking on a bunch of wheat farmers, and the Third Reich.

Some of you all really need to learn what words mean in the military, and find sources that also know what they are talking about and tell the truth.

First of all, casualties are not deaths. That is both those killed, as well as those injured. And not just in combat, but other things like accidents.

Now your "source" tries to say both.

LVIV, March 6 (Reuters) - More than 11,000 Russian troops have been killed since Moscow launched an invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, the Ukrainian armed forces' general staff said on Sunday.

A day earlier, it put Russian casualties at over 10,000. It did not report Ukrainian casualties.

Now this is Reuters, so it is probably some idiot that does not know the difference. And hopefully his boss is now talking to him about what military terms actually mean.

But the Soviet-Afghan War had over 14,000 killed, and over 53,000 wounded. That is over 67,000 casualties.

Learn to tell the difference, alright?

I seeing conflicting reports: Half of the stories I found are saying "11,000 dead", the other half are saying "11,000 dead and wounded."

It's pretty obvious that the Russian media wouldn't let known the real number of dead and wounded Russian soldiers.

One report from Pravda states this:

"In the cities of Armyansk, Krasnoperekopsk, and Dzhankoy, hospitals are overcrowded with wounded [soldiers]. In each [hospital], there are about 1000-1500 wounded. These hospitals accept only military personnel, civilians have to either go to private clinics or go to Simferopol."

So that would be between 3,000 - 4,500 in those three hospitals alone, with whatever other hospitals the Russians are using to treat their wounded. The article also referenced hospitals in Belgorod being overcrowed with wounded Russian soldiers. I would be inclined to believe that the figures are much higher than that, given the way the Russian government tends to be so secretive.

Your own reference says both. But the statement from the Ukrainian military says over 10,000 casualties. So that is what it means, 10,000 casualties.

Which likely means from 1-2,000 dead at most.

And not all casualties require hospitalization. The Battalion level aid stations can handle most of them just fine by themselves.

The media is certainly having fun with that...

Oh not even close.

For that, you have to go back to WWII. Where at the Marianas Turkey Shoot, over 600 aircraft were shot down. That is what, around 1/100 of those numbers?

This is not an air war, the majority of equipment being used is on the ground. The Kiev Independent reports that as of March 6, "According to indicative estimates of Ukraine’s military, Russia also lost 285 tanks, 985 armored fighting vehicles, 109 artillery pieces, 50 MLRS, 21 anti-aircraft warfare, 44 planes, 48 helicopters, 447 cars, 2 speedboats, 60 fuel tanks, and 4 UAVs."

Eleventh day of Russia's war: over 11,000 Russian troops killed.

The latest US intel assessment is saying more than 4,500 Russian soldiers killed, but the estimate is made with "low confidence."

To put that into perspective, the US lost 2500 in Afghanistan in 20 years and 4500 in Iraq in a decade, compared to Russia's loss in only a week and a half.

Looks like the Ukrainians count not only Russian Army, but also Rosguard, People's Militia of DPR and LPR and even local civilian "separatists" and "traitors".

I don't believe it.

Fog of war.

Who else to believe? US intel i now saying over 9,000 and Russia is saying a couple hundred. You lived through the Cold War, right? Tell me Russia doesn't use propaganda.
