Jimmy Carter is the worst president in US history

It was not the worst decision, but nevertheless not so good because it did radicalize some iranian intellectuals

And probably unnecessary

We thought mosaddegh was a closet communist who might deliver iran to the soviet orbit

Bur that was probably wrong
It led to the widely unpopular Shah. Had he not been installed over an elected prime minister, who’s party was instrumental in pushing through a wide range of social reforms and pro-democracy policies including reducing foreign influence in Iranian politics, it is unlikely Iran would be the Iran we see today. Of course…after the Shah was installed the US and UK got some very nice oil deals.

That view carries more weight here in the west than it did inside iran

The real struggle was not between a monarch and liberals but with muslim throwbacks from the 14th Century

The students were duped into deposing their best chance for democracy

Why you ask?

Because Carter was pivotal in toppling the Shah of Iran and delivering Persia to the the most dangerous terrorist nation on earth

His decision to abandon the Shah is the worst decision that any American president ever made

That was a CIA operation, in action before the incompetent peanut farmer stumbled onto the scene.

That honor actually belongs to James Buchanan.

tRump is running a close second though.

Jimmy is down there in the bottom half IIRC

Iran was a regional power even before WWII

I dont think so

We didnt have 620,000 Americans killed while he was president

But iran thanks to carter has the potential to kill many more than that someday

American casualties would have been in 10s of thousands if Carter had done what you said he should have done.
In other words, FAR less people would be dead today if Iran wasnt a terror state. Iran has been responsible for FAR more deaths than that ^ since they began funding terrorism, and they are actively trying to get nukes. Once they get their hands on one of those, we could see their death numbers climb dramatically.

Carter was the worst president of all time, until Biden. At least Carter wasnt intentionally fucking over the US.

Yeah. It would still take a lot for Biden to crack the number one spot but he is solidly at number two. You didn't even mention massive inflation higher than Biden's, double digit interest rates, and gas rationing.

You are wrong. The US was blamed for the 1953 coup against the elected government of Mohammad Mosaddegh. The coup was orchestrated by the CIA among other western powers. The youth were against the USA at the time of the Iranian Revolution and the Shah was highly unpopular. The Iranians still have not forgotten the US involvement in the coup.
Is he ever right about anything?

The Shah of Iran loss of control over Iran was his own doing as people felt enough was enough and his military turned against him. Too bad those in neighboring Iraq weren't powerful enough to do the same against Saddam Hussein.
