Figure 1: Early January 2017 minus early December 2016 sea surface temperature anomaly change. Most of the North Atlantic has anomalously cooled during this time.
Notice, however, that the cold water does NOT appear to have come from the Labrador Sea or, if so, it has been replaced by much warmer water..
