Sick Passenger Examined For Ebola Prompts Quarantine At Newark Airport

shouldnt they all be quarantined?.
That may have to happen. The CDC and some other docs interviewed on TV have stated Ebola is not transmitted via air.
Ok. However they say that being in close proximity to an infected person ( 3 feet or less) is "high risk"....
The incubation period of Ebola is stated to be 21 days. Meaning, an infected person will not show symptoms for three weeks.
This a global health crisis. Our government is not taking this seriously. I find it to be the highest level of irresponsibility on the part of the Obama administration for not dealing ( travel ban to an from hot spot nations) with this crisis.
I guess the "Disinterested One" will not react until Americans start dropping dead.

It would be nice if our resident USMB nutbags would calm down. The election isn't for several weeks. There is plenty of time to take advantage of the frightened populace.
I hope you catch Ebola. Douchebag.....Maybe you don't give a shit about anyone else, but the rest of us like living in a country where the health of the people is a priority.
All you can think of is circling the wagons around Obama for the sake of politics.

U.S. officials say Ebola unlikely in sick Newark passengers report

So these 2 passengers from Liberia, throwing up on the flight, taken away by cdc in hazmat suits, likely do not have ebola, so let's let the rest leave. What is wrong with this picture?

Reuters) - Federal health officials do not believe two sick passengers removed from a United Airlines flight that landed on Saturday at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey are infected with the Ebola virus, according to a local media report.

Officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, dressed in full HAZMAT gear, escorted a man and his daughter off the flight, WABC-TV and the Record newspaper reported.

The two passengers were believed to be from Liberia and were exhibiting signs of illness during the flight, the reports said.

An airport official told the Record that CDC officials do not believe the pair are sick with Ebola.

All the other passengers on the flight from Brussels were cleared to leave the plane, the official said.

Ebola has killed more than 3,400 people in West Africa since March, according to the World Health Organization.
" Federal health officials do not believe "
Oh yeah...That leaves me just brimming with confidence.
When I see PROOF, I will believe them. Until then...I believe they have good reason to LIE to the American people....They don't want people showing up in front of the White House in protest.

ABC is reporting the hospital they have been taken to has shut down the emergency room for 4 hours and that the passengers were taken to a private area in customs at the airport.
Great. So one of the best hospitals in NJ in the State's largest city cannot accept CITIZEN patients because of these two escapees.
How does that fucking happen

You seem upset. Did the little league moms yell at you again?

Your take on what I said is that of a retard.

Informal poll.

How many liberal USMB members have had one or more USMB nutters wish ebola infection upon them?

I have had that happen three times now.

Fun times.

I may be a retard. But I'm a lot smarter than you'll ever dream to be.
You could earn a Phd and you still couldn't piss on a spark plug.
BTW, what is this obsession with little league moms?
Are you one of THOSE people?

The passengers were given a list of symptoms to report to the cdc within the next so many days.

I heard earlier that the cdc, according to Dr. Frieden, is using 42 days, rather than just the 21 days.
Frieden said the CDC usually waits twice as long as the incubation period before declaring that the risk has passed.

However, Dr. David Lakey, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, said the state would consider the risk over on Sunday, Oct. 19, which is 21 days after Duncan was placed in isolation at Presbyterian hospital.

Under CDC guidelines, the U.S. Ebola event will not end until 42 days from the last day of exposure, Frieden said, which is Sunday, Nov. 9. If any new cases are discovered, the 42-day countdown would start again, he said.

The incubation period is 21 days.

The infected person must be sick.......showing obvious symptoms......in order to be contagious. Once a person is contagious, they are likely unable to move about freely. They are obviously very ill.

Therefore, transmission often does not occur even when an infected person is living in the SAME HOUSE as others.

That is from the cdc.

You must have thought I was arguing your point. I wasn't. I don't care how long the incubation period is. You won't catch it if the infected person isn't seriously ill. Once a person becomes seriously ill.....he or she has only a few days of miserable, immobile life left unless medical treatment ( and quarantine ) is found.
