I am a contractor and had planned a cruise vacation nearly a year in advance. I got hired for a long term job but told them my vacation plans. They agreed to move my start time a couple weeks to allow for my vacation. That way there would be no break in my orientation and training period. Surprised this guy didn't make that sort of arrangement with his agency. Inconveniencing the company the agency provides workers to is not a good thing.

Yeah, it is kind of strange. Is it the kind of work that requires a specific skill set that not just anyone walking through the door can do? That might explain a willingness to accommodate him. If all they needed was a warm body, they probably would just ask the temp agency to send another worker in.

Next Spring, I will be on the Symphony of the Seas; Royal Caribbean’s newest, largest, floating city; 400 feet longer than the Titanic, 18 passenger decks, 20 restaurants, 7 neighborhoods, 6,680 passengers, 2,200 crew, 2,759 staterooms, 2 flow riders, 16 bars, and one aqua theater on the stern of the ship!!!!

The trip is paid for, the lights are down, the box is locked, it’s vacation sailing time. I have no idea if I’ll be employed at the same place where I am now but irregardless of the employment picture, I will be on that ship next Spring…. If people at where ever I am working then are not happy about it; deal with it.
