When St. Paul announced the purchase in 2023, the city planned to apply for federal funding to cover the entire cost of the truck.

Minnesota’s first electric fire truck is expected to be ready for its first run in St. Paul next month, a $1.8 million rig that city leaders herald as a symbol of their efforts to protect the environment and firefighters’ health, minnesotareformer.com reported.

When St. Paul announced the purchase in 2023, the city planned to apply for federal funding to cover the entire cost of the truck.

The city appealed to U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith to request funding for the truck through Congressionally Directed Spending, often called earmarks, around March or April 2023, according to the report.

But fire trucks — electric or otherwise — haven’t been eligible for the type of funding they applied for, the report said.

The spending bill funding all the approved requests from across the country passed in March. That’s when the city found out the request wasn’t accepted, according to the report.

The city plans to apply for federal rebates to pay for the truck through the Inflation Reduction Act. But the city would only be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $40,000, the report said.

LOL....Great idea since MN is cold as fuck and that's really great for the batteries.

So... that will save on all the fumes from that big ol diesel engine that would ordinarily run like 1 maybe 2 hours a week..... Bravo!

When that battery goes, that thing will burn for a week......And take the firehouse with it

The images of ICE fire trucks trying to put out the environmentally friendly fire truck that is spewing literally tons of black smoke will be put in textbooks for kids to look at 100 years from now as monument to government stupidity.

The sales rep probably a made a hell of a commission because they need upgraded chargers or it take 5 years to charge it to 80-% and then there's the extended parts and service warranties too that go along with this.

Silly rabbits.

Too funny. They thought that one electric firetruck was going to protect the Earth and the firemen.
Now they are bitching about the money. :laughing0301:
How many times have I been criticized about the cost of transitioning away from fossil fuels. 99% of the bitching about money on this forum comes from your side of the argument.

Almost as many times as you have been criticized for your dishonesty and running away from hard questions.
