States With Higher Minimum Wage Gain More Jobs

I feel like you could feed facts and context to most republicans all day and they still wouldn't have the maturity and integrity to realize they were wrong. Their ideology is driven mostly by emotion. The day they realize that is the day we put aside the propaganda altogether.
Ironic post is ironic.
Billy, you start troll threads and when the entire board piles on with how stupid you are and citing facts, graphs, links etc your response is always, nuh-uh.
Go get a life.
Oh Rabbi you try and try but you never get anywhere do you?
he is right Billy.....in many of those threads that YOU start.....you disappear when things are not going your way.....i have been in a few of them....for a "moderate" Liberal....you sure act "far" left....your good buddy Dean does the same thing.....
Am I expected to argue with everyone who disagrees with me in my threads? That's usually about a dozen people.

Well, yeah. The idea s to defend your views and statements. If they're sound that should be easy. IN your case its impossible because you post what you think, not anything based on reality.

This-----this, I agree with you about. It is a simple question, in fact, so simple, I'm surprised you didn't already know but-----but do you know that (using the Walmart, Target et al business model) raising the minimum wage to $10.10/hour would only raise your Walmart tab (don't be embarrassed to admit it, you're posts already identify you as a Walmart type shopper) 1 for every $16 spent?

And-----and raising the minimum wage to $10.10/hour saves a $4.6 billion/year in the SNAP program alone, not to mention the saving in other safety net programs. IOW's it's like the old Fram commercial "pay me now or pay me later" - see what I'm saying... Republicans are pushing social welfare by opposing a minimum wage of at least-----AT LEAST $10.10/hour but-----but this quote by Laura Clawson is apropos "...Naturally, Republicans are more opposed to requiring businesses to pay wages that keep working people off of food stamps than they are in favor of reducing the expenditures. Because their crusade is much less about saving the government money than it is about redistributing money upward to the already rich."

BTW - that $10.10/hour number didn't magically appear out of nowhere - the $10.10/hour minimum wage formula is the intersection where, the savings in social programs and employer wages achieve balance but-----but $10.10/hour obviously isn't enough in the populated parts of the country.

I ignore some posts because they are either too brief or are too moronic to even answer. Like I said, ask me any quesrion you want in a PM and I will gladly answer it.

States with higher minimum wage gain more jobs

Many business groups argue that raising the minimum wage discourages job growth by increasing the cost of hiring. A Congressional Budget Office report earlier this year lent some support for that view. It found that a minimum wage of $10.10 an hour, as President Obama supports, could cost 500,000 jobs nationwide.

But the state-by-state hiring data, released Friday by the Labor Department, provides ammunition to those who disagree. Economists who support a higher minimum say the figures are encouraging, though they acknowledge they don't establish a cause and effect. There are many possible reasons hiring might accelerate in a particular state.

People will work if you pay them more. More money means bills are paid, less debt, and more put back into the economy.

LMAO you're conclusion is all wrong, go peddle your socialism on some street corner with a bullhorn.

Wow another republican who doesn't know the meaning of words in the english language.

Socialism isn't private money being paid to workers. That's capitalism.

This has nothing to do with public tax dollars. This is private dollars from private business paying their workers a wage that's enough to live on without having to run to the government for money just to be able to sustain themselves.

What you republicans want is socialism. You want wages for private business to be very low and for tax dollars to make up the difference.

If you really hated socialism you would support a higher minimum wage so that people wouldn't qualify for government assistance.

You've got that conservative projection down to an art form.

Liberals want to take from those who have more and give to those who have less for no other reason than "fairness" and "fair share". They tell their dumb ass base they are entitled to a share. I say when the bunch of gutless lazy liberals grow a pair, start their own business, risk their own money and future, make the personal sacrifices required to start and grow a business then they can feel free to give part of the business to their employees if they choose. I seriously doubt that will happen. Employees here's your paycheck, that's it now get back to work until next payday or feel free to go work some other job.
and republicans want to pay less so the can have more money for them selves by doing no work at all and get their 5th houase ...while the poor the eat worms and the rich eat lobster... yeah you have a great idea of fairness.... and when all their employee leave all at once, what will he be saying ???dam them liberals for getting them better jobs
How the hell do you make enough to buy 5 homes without working? If that were even remotely possible democrats would be the richest group of people in world history being the laziest people on the planet. And then you say all of their employees would quit, meaning they are working as business owners so the do nothing comment was plainly stupid. In addition if the liberals get better jobs they sure as hell aren't going to get one from people like you. That better job will come from another capitalist working to grow their business.

Jebus... people are still spinning the minimum wage nonsense? It reminds me of WWF.

Intuit Press Release - Small Business Employment Shows Largest Increase In More than a Year

The hourly wage remained unchanged at $15.90 for the fourth consecutive month.

As suspected, the small businesses are already paying well over the $10 an hour mark, it's the big boxes which don't want to. Of course not paying diddly squat is how they became big boxes, but I digress.

Increase the min wage by ten times and watch things soar!
Correlation is not causality. Repeat that 10 times and go kill yourself.

Is that necessary? Are we not adults?
Clearly not. Children see one thing and then another and assume the one thing caused the other. Liberals are about the same.
You can't look at two datapoints and draw any meaningful conclusion given the myriad circumstances that impinge on it.
Especially given that the increase it quoted in one state was something like 15 cents. Smaller increases will have smaller negative effects. Sufficiently small changes could be overcome by other larger factors.

Saying, "look! Going up 15 cents didn't crash the economy. Let's do a twenty times larger change and go up $3" is foolish.

Further, changes in areas of the country are not the same as changes across the whole country.
