The Cuyahoga river was an experiment that went wrong. It was a flawed theory that chemicals would dissipate in the water and nobody would know the better. Unlike other environmental theories, this one had empirical evidence; water doesn't catch on fire.

Unions were successful because there were no cheaper replacement products. Now that we trade globally and the American consumer became obsessed with cheap prices, unions eventually drove companies and jobs out of the country.
