The mayor michael Tubbs is a black man of course. This is another racist program to give more freebies to blacks.

In California, Stockton Experiments With Guaranteed Basic Income

jan 29 2018 Finland has tried it. Kenya has tried it. Now the city of Stockton, Calif. is going to try it. A few dozen families will get a check, $500 a month, no strings attached. The fact that this money does not come with any requirements makes it different from a traditional welfare program. Stockton is calling it a guaranteed basic income. The city expects to hand out the first checks later this year. Michael Tubbs is the mayor of Stockton. Welcome to the program.

SHAPIRO: How is this going to work exactly?

TUBBS: So from now until June, we'll do a community engagement process to come up with the selection criterion for the families who will be selected. Those families will receive $500 a month for the next year to 18 months with the idea to really elevate the story of working-class people everywhere. People are working very hard and struggling and unable to make basic ends meet. So we were able to get a grant of $1 million from the Economic Security Project to really test this idea.

SHAPIRO: So this is not going to cost taxpayers anything? It's being paid for by a grant.

TUBBS: It doesn't cost tax payers anything. It's paid from $1.2 million in philanthropic funding. So the idea is that in the next couple of years, we'll have some data that will tell us whether this is a solution that is viable or not.

I had posted this 2 weeks ago, and the liberals are saying it will be an interesting experiment. So was the Soviet Union...

How many homeless can fit in Stockton's city limits? And where do they all sign up for their free money?
This is going to be fun to watch...

They're gonna be flooded with homeless from other cities now. And they'll all vote for black mayor Tubbs.

Universal Basic Income is actually a pretty well supported idea. Guys like Mark Cuban and Mark Zuckerburg are already behind it. Cuban especially believes that in a world that is headed towards very few manufacturing jobs due to automation and AI, there will be fewer jobs, and with the kind of safety net that UBI gives, more people will be willing to take chances on ideas that they wouldn't under normal circumstances.

FYI, $500 in Stockton, CA might get you a cup of coffee and a bagel each day of the month. So give that shit a break.

Great. Nothing expected in return...are they TRYING to make sure EVERYONE sucks off the government tit? I mean for fucks sake. .If my poor ass can go to college and relearn a new skill and get a job then so can other poor idiots. Disabled from driving a truck etc but sure can learn a new skill because disability ain't a great life to live off of.

Exactly. About half of these 'Conservative' posters will be on such in about a decade, as automation takes over almost all the jobs that low IQ individuals can perform. So, do we let them starve, or do we do something like basic income?

Do you really believe most conservatives are on welfare?? Then you're crazy. 90% of the people on welfare vote dem.
