I like that line of thinking actually. No one ASKS the simple question. Of where these war refugees WANT to live. They just want to survive. (the actual persecuted and at risk ones). So one day they are going to Australia and the next their told Mozambique or some damn place. A LOT have no real WISH to live a Western life. They just don't want to die in their home countries right now. I've seen dozens of interviews where these "refugees" are NOT SOLD on being citizens of Western countries.

And that's a problem. If we are imagining that they are becoming US citizens.

Not a fan of the Orange Guy. But FINALLY some world leader is talking about "safe zones" in Syria and Iraq. A MUCH better solution than ASSUMING that bulk of these people really WANT to be French or American. It is a totally fucked up situation that NONE of the G13 countries were pushing for safe zones in the conflict area. It's the largest failure of world leadership I've seen in my lifetime. Should have been done AT LEAST 3 or 4 years ago..

As far as what you wrote -- when applied to ACTUAL IMMIGRATION -- we can all debate how "full up" we are. Or whether we should be generous with immigration. For ME -- I'd like nothing better to be MORE than generous with immigration quotas. But I'm convinced, my govt SUCKS WADS at formulating and implementing immigration policy. And until THAT issue is fixed, I'd probably side with the "less generous" folks.

But what we have TODAY -- with the ENTRANCE "ban" -- is not just immigration. It's a slap in the face to the concept of the US being a world superpower that stands for freedom and tolerance. Those seven countries we're freezing out have a LOT of great people in them. Some of them are academics, scientists, athletes, artists, world class business people, and RELATIVES of folks in the USA. More importantly to me -- SOME OF THEM risked their lives and asses when we had AMERICANS in those conflict zones. We RELIED on those folks to SUPPORT our occupation efforts. (as crazy as that idea might have been). They performed valuable services in support of our troops and contractors. And NOW --- we're locking THEM out???????????

Stupid ass move. And it makes my blood boil that we would slap them like this.

Islam is an oppressive form of government. They also call it their religion. Thing is that they cannot separate religion and government because they are one and the same.

We should ban other forms of government.

Freedom of religion still means following our constitution and laws. If a religion goes against that, it cannot be allowed.

Calling Islam a religion is a stretch when they follow sharia law. Sharia is their constitution and the only thing they allow. Sharia goes directly against our constitution and Bill of Rights, so no way we can allow it to be practiced here.

Nor do I. The thrust of the OP was a religious one - a ban that is wrong IMHO let alone against the constitution. We have banned immigration from foreign nations before and rightfully so. We will do so again.

Yup. Religious PRACTICES are banned that violate our laws. The religion itself is not. There is a massive difference in banning an entire religion and banning certain practices that violate others freedoms (such as stoning or sacrifice).

You can come here and be Muslim. You cannot come here and be Muslim (or any religion) if you think that your religion gives you license to kill others.

What is noteworthy is that hatred of an entire religion is one of the core problems with Muslim extremism - they hate entire groups of people because their beliefs are not extreme Islamic ones.
