Store owner murders innocent black kid

Shoplifting isn't a crime that allows the use of deadly force. Plus shooting a fleeing criminal in the back is generally illegal even if the criminal is a fleeing felon which this kid wasn't. Shoplifting is a misdemeanor.
Depends on if the kid pulled the gun on him, doesn't it?

I absolutely know what I'm talking about. Show me any jurisdiction where it's legal for a private citizen to shoot someone in the back as they are running away.

Of course you still avoid the obvious; that's because you're stupid and have no clue how criminals and gangs work in ghettoes. You think it's like Hollywood westerns and the good guys let the bad guys draw first and stuff. The shopkeeper would be a target for reprisal until the kid died or got locked up.

The “victim” was a thief who was armed with an illegal firearm

Thankfully he never got a chance to use it that we know of

If they trace the thug's gun to other crimes we will probably never hear about it. All we'' hear was how to feral animal was a great kida and only wanted to be a doctor or something and help the poor n stuff. Then Al Sharpton's horde will sue somebody and rake an 80% cut off the top for themselves.

This will put him in prison for life

I don't fault the store owner as much as I fault leftists who refuse to do anything to stop out of control crime / theft / shoplifting.

To this store owner, his business is his livlihood - he probably sees his business pretty much like he sees his home - his property he has to defend.

If this kid was caught breaking into the man's home and stealing and shot dead by the owner, it would make a world of difference...not many would question the man's right to protect his home.

If the kid had been a grown man stealing from the store and was caught by the owner it would make a difference.

(All that being said, I am not defending or advocating shooting a kid for stealing water.)

The only difference between the store owner and senator Fetterman is that Fetterman didn't pull the trigger when he armed himself with a shotgun and chased an innocent black man out of the neighborhood.

The problem is priorities. Prioritization of a lot of things.

Let’s be honest. Yes. Shoplifting and petty theft is a problem. But that problem is one of a lot they have to deal with. Among other problems. Jail overcrowding.

But let’s stay on shoplifting for a moment. It is going to be a misdemeanor charge. If the cops investigate and track the guy down. Or even if they get him at the scene. They are tied up for hours dealing with the arrest. The reports have to be written. The accused has to be booked. The accused has charges filed and bail set. If any bail is required. Most likely they’ll be released with more court dates to attend.

If the guy stays in jail for thirty days he will be released and then what? Time served if the case goes forward. Even the most hard core judge isn’t going to send a shoplifter to prison. It’s a misdemeanor.

The cop has to attend all the hearings as a witness. That is hours taken from being on the street. Several times. And if every piece of paper isn’t right. If the witnesses don’t show to the trial. The accused is going to walk. The combined time spent by the police and prosecutors is more than the guy is going to be sentenced to.

Now let’s say you are a cop. You have a certain number of traffic citations you are expected to write to bring money into the department. You have a lot of serious crimes going on. Major thefts. Robberies. Assaults. Rape. Murder. Drugs. The list goes on and on.

Then there are the emergency calls. Traffic accidents. With or without injuries. You have to go clear up the accidents. You need to find the people dealing drugs to kids. Suddenly spending half your shift worrying a shoplifter through the system doesn’t seem worth it does it?

While you are in the station writing the reports good old Joe is doing a Felony stop on suspected drug dealers without backup because everyone is tied up.

But let’s say you get him to jail. You have 120 beds in the jail. You can’t hold two hundred. So some are going to be kicked loose to lock up the shoplifter right? Who do you kick loose? Other shoplifters? The DUI guy who killed two people driving drunk?

Overcrowded jails are a problem. It is unsafe for the prisoners. And it is more dangerous for the guards.

Remember the case of Lindsey Lohan? She served 14 days of a 90 day sentence.

This wasn’t because she was an actress. She had served a percentage of her time and released with full credit. This was and is the norm.

Across the nation this story is repeated time and time again. The Judge issues the sentence. And a fraction of the time later the convicted person is released early because of space requirements. While Lindsey was doing her time, hundreds of others were being sent to jail too. And there isn’t room for them all. Every one who is Perp Walked in, another is released to make room.

The answer of build more jails is expensive. And nobody can make money appear out of nowhere.

Hiring more guards is also a problem. You have to pay them.

So the reality is that the people prioritize their time, and assets. Ignoring petty crime, as bad as it is, allows them to hunt for more serious criminals.

From the story in the OP.

Sunday’s shooting, which was triggered by a false allegation of shoplifting, was not justified, the sheriff said.

So that’s how.
Ok

Because a lying lib reporter editorialized that make it fact?

I dont agree

Failing to address it has only made the problem worse. We have seen gangs / teams hit businesses, stealing thousands of dollars of high dollar items.

Businesses are closing stores and leaving crime-ridden cities where the auhjorities have given up trying to protect their stores, leaving communitoes without stores to shop in, for people to find work.

Forfeiting safety, law and order is not an acceptable choice.

At the least the gun was probably stolen

But used in other crimes?

Thats an interesting thought
