The whole construction apparatus over there was nothing more than organized crime in the first place. Military contractors with congressional sugar daddy's.
Oh FFS. I swear you guys have the memories of a goldfish. Ten seconds after hearing something you’ve forgotten it.
What about all the ranting and raving about how American Companies should build the airport and structures? How about all the demands that Americans should get those jobs. Sure we could hire locals for basic labor. But if we want it done right we need to let Americans do it.
I remember that.
I remember the second and third round of trials required to prove that dragon scale armor for the troops was junk. The Army tested it and said it was junk. The ads started claiming it was better. The people claimed the military was benefitting only their friends through kickbacks and bribes. Then there was a second round. And a third before it was accepted grudgingly that dragon scale was garbage.
Then of course the same people who demanded the retrial of the garbage, denounce the entire thing as a waste that benefits only the friends of whomever is in power. Nobody mentions how dragon scale was willing to foist garbage on our troops for profit. Nobody calls out the pundits who bought into the crap claims.
How about the F-35? Remember the big stink over the engines? The idea from Lockheed was to use the same engine developed for the F-22 and just use one. Exactly as we did for the F-16, taking one engine for the F-15 and building the fighter around it.
The company that lost the contract, Boeing, had developed a competing engine. So sure enough. We spend the next five years hearing how half the F-35’s should be build with the GE engine instead. The Air Force said that commonality of parts and service standards was preferable. GE and their supporters swore that it would be good for America to have a second source for engines for the fighter.
Sure enough. A few tens of millions of dollars is earmarked to test the GE engine and conduct feasibility studies to see if a GE engine would be workable.
Lawsuits from Glock and Smith and Wesson over the Military choosing the Beretta 9MM pistol? Ring any bells?
