He was in the Navy's ready reserve, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus told CNN. In the past, he was an enlisted petty officer working on electrical systems. He was discharged from the Navy following a "pattern of misconduct," a U.S. defense official said. The military is reviewing his files.

The suspected shooter "had an active military ID" and entered the base legally, according to a federal law enforcement official.

Outside Fort Worth, Texas, friend Michael Ritrovato said Alexis had recently been frustrated with the civilian contractor about a payment issue. But Ritrovato said his friend never showed signs of aggressiveness or violence, though he played a lot of shooting video games online.

"It's incredible that this is all happening, because he was a very good-natured guy," Ritrovato said. "It seemed like he wanted to get more out of life."

In Seattle, police said they arrested Alexis in 2004 for shooting out the tires of another man's vehicle in what Alexis later told detectives was an anger-fueled "blackout."

Yet he was still hired as a subcontractor. Why?

Libs will focus on the gun he used not over that he was hired despite his record

Why and how did he have those guns? With a record like that, why was he allowed to own guns? You people are the ones that arm these psychos.

Nova, they will probably call you a racist for that. They'll claim he was a minority and needed a job. The lies and vitriol will come. Be prepared for it.

He was a fruitloop with an arsenal. Just like the fellow that shot up the school, or the one that shot up the theater. But you and the NRA continue to arm these fruitloops. Some reasonable laws on who can own guns, and a waiting period that allows time for a determination to be made if the person purchasing the gun is responsible enough to own a firearm.

Who's arming the fruitloops of Chicago's streets?

More importantly, who's disarming them?

So, it's beginning to seem like he was a nut who went postal...http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/16/us/navy-yard-suspects/index.html

Alexis appeared to have had sporadic run-ins with the law, dating back to at least 2004 when he was arrested in Seattle on charges he shot out the tires of a man's truck in an anger-fueled "blackout," according to a Seattle Police Department report.

He told investigators he believed the man, a construction worker, was mocking him, but had no memory of shooting out the tires, the report said.

Investigators later spoke with Alexis' father, who told police that his son had anger management problems associated with post-traumatic stress disorder, which he suffered after working "as an active participant in rescue attempts" during the September 11, 2001, attacks in New York, the report said.

I have to agree with OldRocks - how in the hell was a person with this record allowed to have guns? This is where the system breaks down.

When you can get any kind of weapon you want in surrounding states, it matters little that a municipality has laws concerning them. We need to get a lot of these guns off of the street. Yet, whenever a police force considers destroying the various weapons they collect, the NRA and associated fruitloops screams bloody murder.

We need to reduce, not increase, the number of guns in this nation. At present, there are so many of the military type of weapons out there that any fruitloop with a grudge can get one on the street with no questions asked.

Another affirmative action Manchurian candidates type actor? Every government employee that was shown on the newsreels seemed like a low IQ incompetent, so there indeed should be a stop and frisk program like they subject American citizens to at airports.

Yea, dey remember him...

Navy Yard Shooter Remembered in Fort Worth, Texas
September 16, 2013 — Some people who knew the alleged Navy Yard shooter, Aaron Alexis, from his days in Fort Worth, Texas were surprised when they heard the news about him Monday. He is especially well remembered among people in the city's Thai community.
Few people in Fort Worth remember the 34-year-old black man who liked Thai food, practiced meditation in a Buddhist temple, and sometimes played with guns in his apartment. A woman who lived in an apartment above Alexis called police after hearing a shot and seeing a bullet hole in her floor. Fort Worth police reports show that officers came to his apartment shortly after the incident three years ago and questioned him. He told them his gun went off accidentally and that he didn't report it because he didn't think the bullet had penetrated the apartment above. He was detained overnight for firing a gun within city limits.

Alexis was later evicted from the apartment and went to live in a house owned by a Thai friend. He also worked for a time at a Thai restaurant called The Happy Bowl. He visited Thailand, learned some of the language and befriended many in the Fort Worth Thai community.

These images released by the FBI show photos of Aaron Alexis, who police believe was a gunman at the Washington Navy Yard shooting in Washington, Sept. 16, 2013, and who was killed after he fired on a police officer.

Tiki Confer, the owner of the Thai Bangkok House restaurant, knew Alexis. She says the news about him allegedly shooting people in the nation's capital took her by surprise. "I was shocked because I did not know that he was in Washington, D.C. or anything,” she said. Confer says she had a good impression of him. "I saw him a couple of times, come to eat in my restaurant, you know, to eat, party and chat. That was in like 2008. It wasn't recently. He was a very nice, quiet boy at the time," she said.

Alexis joined the Navy Reserves in 2007 and left in January, 2011 after several incidents of misconduct and arrests. There was at least one other incident before he joined the Navy. Police in Seattle arrested Alexis in 2004 for shooting at a car after an altercation. No one was injured in that incident. The FBI is conducting an investigation to learn more about Aaron Alexis and is urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement officials.

Russian lawmaker on Navy Yard shooting: 'Nobody's even surprised anymore'
September 16, 2013 -- A prominent member of Russia's parliament has exploited the deadly shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington to ridicule the United States.
Alexei Pushkov, who heads the international affairs committee, tweeted Monday that "nobody's even surprised anymore" by such an attack, which he called "a clear confirmation of American exceptionalism."

Pushkov, who also hosts a political talk show, serves as a mouthpiece for the Kremlin's most anti-American faction.

In an opinion piece published last week in The New York Times, Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized America for seeing itself as exceptional. He was referring to a speech by President Barack Obama in which he said America's ideals and principles made it want to hold the Syrian government accountable for a chemical weapons attack and, "That's what makes us exceptional."

Interesting the MSM did not get a hold of what government fucktard hired the retarded bastard who shot at his neighbor. By the way, isn't it odd the retarded bastard did not get tossed in prison for shooting at his neighbor...or for shooting at a vehicle in a road rage incident. Hope Geraldo will compile the info on the coverups that allowed a fucking retarded bastard access to the most highly restricted government sites. I wonder if Joe Lieberman is happy or sad his homeland security failed...or stood down.

AND WHY THE FUCK DOES THE MSM KEEP SHOWING THE RETARDED BASTARD WITH A HISTORY OF SHOOTING AT PEOPLE AND CARS IN TWO PHOTOS, ONE WITH A LIGHT ORANGE TINT AND THE OTHER BLACK AS COAL?

The right wingers. Private sales require no background check so all the gang bangers need to do is take a drive to their local gun show and walk out with an arsenal of weapons, no questions asked.

LOL I have no capacity to arm anyone. Do I look like a gun manufacturer to you? The NRA does not actively arm people either. Guess who's the fruitloop? These 'reasonable' laws will be so strict that a man could lose his 2nd Amendment rights for having a moderate case of depression. It won't stop at 'reasonable.'

I assume we will never find out who hired the Obamason. But what is up with those lesbian police chiefs and that bizarre mayor of DC with the fucked, gay eyebrows who LAUGHED after the "press conference" in which the great first responder law enforcement lesbian said it is an ongoing investigation and therefore cannot tell the PUBLIC anything. After all, safety is important when law enforcement detains people, but not relevant for information.

Why and how did he have those guns? With a record like that, why was he allowed to own guns? You people are the ones that arm these psychos.

The more relevant question is how someone with a record like this ever got the security clearance he had? Someone screwed the pooch big time on that.

Getting discharged from the military does not always involve a court. So there is no divergence of bad conduct in the military and civilian convictions which would keep a person from owning a gun. Many times, the military discharge is a matter of agreement between the soldier and the military. When this occurs, they get an innocuous 'general discharge' which allows them to keep all their VA benefits, etc.

We don't know what his 'bad conduct' was. At least I don't. But not all bad conduct is conduct that would preclude gun ownership. Sometimes people just aren't suited for the military and can't conform to the rigidity of it. Personally, I would like to know more. Not sure we will though.

This was not a criminal record. It was a military matter.

There were background checks. Alexis passed them all. He passed government background checks to get a security clearance. More reasonable laws wouldn't help since he got away with all the reasonable laws already in place. The background check that gave him his security clearance is more stringent than one to buy a gun. How did he get to work for a government contractor given his military history of misconduct?

What happened? Was he just passed through because of some perverted political correctness? Everyone was afraid to point out that the black guy was crazy.
