Sorry.....it is a tax on a Right.....the same tax the democrats used to keep blacks from voting....

Meanwhile you two whine about Trump and his supporters left and right hypocrites. Remind us how rights mean something while you denigrate the 2nd?

Murdock v. Pennsylvania 319 U.S. 105 (1943)

4. A State may not impose a charge for the enjoyment of a right granted by the Federal Constitution. P. 319 U. S. 113.

Again, 2aguy shows his complete ignorance. Basically, he's bitching about a federal law that came into being in 1919 and upheld through Democratic and Republican administrations.
I'm sure 2aguy is ignorant about the fact that Washington State has no income tax and survives on sales taxes as do city and towns. Thus the high sales taxes in cities who use the proceeds for government function and services, streets, police, fireman etc.
Then 2aguy, refers to an article about one individual who's running for a seat on Seattle's city council. This prompts him to cry and whine, "the sky is falling".
2aguy, ever think about doing any real research about a topic you are going to post. Did you ever think about not using talking points and conjecture to make your case?

I wonder if they also considered the fact that the area in question is also in prime hunting area, and when you have a high demand for a product (in this case ammo and guns for hunting), the price and the taxes on it are higher than in areas where there isn't as much of a demand. It's called capitalism.

You understand that that statue is privately owned, and is on private property, don't you? The city, state, or federal government has no control of whether it is moved. The confederate statues to be moved will also go to private property, or museums. Find something else to whine about.

How is that good...moron?

So..in your view, it is better that a woman is raped and murdered, than that she use a gun to stop it....right? Please...be grave...answer that question..because when it has been asked before you always disappear........and since you think it is good to drive gun stores out of Seattle with Poll Taxes....then you have to believe it is better that the woman is raped and murdered...right?

Moron....

Supreme Court upholds Seattle gun tax

The "gun safety tax" charges a $25 tax for every firearm sold by licensed retailers in the city and 5 cents for every round of ammunition of .22 caliber or greater.

The revenue from the tax, championed by Seattle City Councilman Tim Burgess, is intended to pay for a program at Harborview Medical Center that aims to reduce the aftereffects of gun violence. At the time the ordinance passed, the city estimated it would collect $300,000 to $500,000 a year.

However, the city has conceded that they collected less than $200,000 last year.

And this is why they actually passed the tax....

The tax has drawn public criticism from the owners of two of the plaintiffs in this case: Outdoor Emporium in Sodo and Precise Shooters, formerly on Aurora Avenue North near Green Lake.

Precise Shooters has since moved to Lynnwood because of the tax, while Outdoor Emporium has reported plummeting sales and signaled it may move out of the city at the end of its lease.

In Seattle they put a heavy tax on guns and ammo......in order to drive out the gun stores and make it more difficult for gun owners to use guns.....

Seattle gun tax failure? Firearm sales plummet, violence spikes after law passes

When the City of Seattle passed a tax on all sales of guns and ammunition, the measure was hailed as a way to defray the rising costs of gun violence.

What did it actually do.....it drove out their gun stores.....

2aguy, I provided indisputable facts and again, all you have is unproven conjecture.
SAD! :happy-1:

And more on what they were really doing...

Seattle gun tax failure? Firearm sales plummet, violence spikes after law passes

Coombs said storewide, sales are down 20 percent while gun sales have plummeted 60 percent.

“I’ve had to lay off employees because of this,” Coombs said. “It’s hurting us, it’s hurting our employees.”

Employees at the Big 5 sporting goods stores in Seattle also report anemic gun sales. But there’s evidence Seattleites are just going outside the city to buy their guns. Coombs also owns a gun shop in the nearby city of Fife. Sales there are described as robust.

Another gun dealer simply left Seattle and moved his shop, Precise Shooter, to nearby Lynnwood. Sergey Solyanik said business has never been better. He said the gun tax has probably worked out to be a net negative for Seattle when factoring lost sales tax revenue.

-------

Dave Workman doesn’t criticize the study, but he does think the city council should have predicted the results of the gun tax, such as gun dealers leaving with no drop in gun ownership.
