The Randy Report: Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott uses failed "procreation" tactic in 5th Circuit Court appeal

------------------------------------------------------
It's truly outrageous how this Republican candidate for Texas governor likes to spend the hard-earned money of Texans on this frivolous appeal and using arguments that have been shot down in most all of the courts at that. It will cost way too much money that could undoubtedly go to better uses in his state. Guess the Conservative Spending Habit rubbed off on him from Gov. Perry spending millions on guarding the Southern border something not all Texans by far are in agreement with. And yet Conservatives have the gall to scream the loudest of the 'tax and spend Liberals' but when they do it, especially on crap like this, it's o.k. it's alright! Hypocrisy at it's best at work here, folks! Hasn't he heard that all courts including Courts of Appeal are striking down same-sex marriage bans all over the U.S. therefore, he should save that money for better purposes? Makes one wonder doesn't it.

“By recognizing and encouraging the lifelong commitment between a man and woman — even when they do not produce offspring — the state encourages others who will procreate to enter into the marriage relationship,” Abbott said in the state’s first brief, filed late Monday at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals."

Yeah that's it Greggy, my childless marriage of a few decades, ................................. wait for it, ................................ inspires other people to get married, and make babies. What a moron for an AG. Typical Texan, big hat no cattle.

what the hell?

you people just post for the hell of it? slime us all or what?

Steph

Do you ever have anything of value to add to the discussion? Why don't you do this. Defend the Texas bill to the rest of USMB. It should lead to some interesting discussion

Why do you read and comment? You realize that just bumps the thread and generates reads. Is that your intent?

Why do you feel that this thread "slimes" you? It is an argument seen repeated over and over and over by anti gay USMB posters after all.

From the article:
Both the 4th Circuit and the 10th Circuit specifically addressed the issue that procreation is no justification for discriminating against gays and lesbians.
What circuit is Texas in?

Interesting case listed on the Attorney Generals' site:
https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/oagNews/release.php?id=104
A Beaumont district judge today vacated his recent order granting a divorce to two Texas men who had entered into a civil union in Vermont last year.

The Court concluded: "... the Attorney General of the State of Texas has intervened and presented a legal argument opposing the granting of a divorce, arguing that this court lacks subject matter jurisdiction. It is the court's opinion that this case should be re-litigated, particularly with respect to the legal issues of subject matter jurisdiction and the Full Faith and Credit Clause."

Attorney General Abbott had asked the court to set aside the decision because Texas law does not provide for a dissolution of a civil union, and a divorce cannot be granted where a marriage never existed.

“By recognizing and encouraging the lifelong commitment between a man and woman — even when they do not produce offspring — the state encourages others who will procreate to enter into the marriage relationship,” Abbott said

Because, by golly, people will just stop humping and having babies if the state stops paying 'em. The human race would die out!

The best argument so far

SermonAudio.com | Judge rips apart Kentucky's gay marriage argument

In striking down Kentucky's ban on gay marriage, a federal judge Tuesday rejected Gov. Steve Beshear's argument that the ban is needed because only opposite sex couples can procreate and maintain the state's birth rate and economy.
"These arguments are not those of serious people," wrote Senior U.S. District Court Judge John G. Heyburn II.

"Even assuming the state has a legitimate interest in promoting procreation," Heyburn wrote in a 19-page opinion, its lawyers never explained how the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage has "any effect whatsoever on procreation among heterosexual spouses.'' ...

I still can't see how conservatives can think that gay marriage affects procreation in straight couples

You're correct...same sex marriages can procreate...the AIDS virus.

Allowing Gays to marry cuts down on AIDS

Allowing Gays to marry cuts down on AIDS
You have any proof of that?

You have any proof that Civil Unions cut down on AIDS either?

Monogamy reduces exposure to AIDS. Gay Marriage encourages monogamy

Lesbians in a gay marriage have a lesser chance of contracting AIDS than lesbians in a heterosexual marriage

So in other words this racist far left Obama drone does not have any proof, but then again they will swallow anything their far left masters command them to swallow.

You don't believe marriage promotes monogamy?
