Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) argued Saturday that the focus in the aftermath of the shooting at an Uvalde, Texas, elementary school should be on the lessons learned from the incident instead of “finger pointing” at authorities.

“The second guessing and finger pointing among state and local law enforcement is destructive, distracting, and unfair,” Cornyn posted on Twitter.

He retweeted a post on Twitter from Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas), whose district includes Uvalde, that included a Uvalde Police Department press release pointing to an incident in 2018 when the department identified what the congressman called “credible threats” to a local school and made arrests.

Cornyn said complex situations require “split second decisions” and it is easy for people to criticize actions in hindsight.

I didn't think just criticism and viable path forwards were mutually exclusive.....And to think, he got more reelection votes than any US Senator in history in 2020.

You can't learn what went wrong unless you point to what went wrong.
You would think.

It also shows that gop leadership politicians are just as willing to whistle past the graveyard with their fingers crossed as dem politicians and 87% of the public are when it comes to the completely false notion that the police will protect you and yours.

Police ROE for school shootings has been established on a national level for years yet was still was not followed. Oh but don't point fingers.

I would replace Cornyn with an actual conservative tomorrow given the opportunity but he's actually correct.

Once all the facts are known, the blood is cleaned up, the dead are buried, and tears are dried up we'll have ample time for recriminations.

You shouldn‘t have to wait months to be accountable for your actions

I see a bit of Texas wagon-circling going on. ;)

I get your point (to a point) but firings should have already happened by now and it would not be considered a knee-jerk reaction either.....Failure begets failure and those in charge of that cluster-fuck need to be removed....We will do better next time does not cut it.

What is the matter with Republicans?

They should be proud of their record of getting guns into the hands of monsters
Just like bed wetting pieces of shit like you enjoy putting the genitals of children in the hands of pedophiles and deviant freaks of nature...

Bed wetters can not think.

The facts as we know them now are that no one had the balls to go in there after this little dreamer asshole anchor baby and waste him until CBP Agents showed up an hour after the shooting was committed and the victims were cold. Had there been armed adults on campus already things may have been different. It sickens me how bed wetting filthy liberal pieces of shit gleefully dance in the blood of these children to promote gun control laws that will never prevent a murderer from doing what they want.

That's the type of voice that should be heard, not a couple of wind-bags like Tater or Wheels.

Instead of abandoning Ukraine look at US foreign aid recipients and wasting money on the border wall, fine employers who hire illegals and put that money on Texas mental health services. That's not enough. You also have to restrict the number of guns and ammunition a person can have.

Ramos had two assault rifles and unlimited ammunition. He had 16,500 rounds. Hunting? Self defense? Nope. He was a conspiracy crackpot willing to take on the government... radicalized online. Read his manifesto.

Trump and Abbott are using this massacre for their political agenda.

Anyone who studies the situations knows where most of the murders takes place. I see no Progs moving into ghettos to help the brothers and sisters out. Many Progs have the easy life and emote while abusing many of the seven deadly sins. Socialism based on sharing. Just not them. Which means Progressive Socialism reeks of corruption and is evil.

Uvalde and Buffalo are ghettos? How about the six mass shootings in Texas in the past 7 years?

In the past 7 years, the hate from the left and from the media has gotten worse, exponentially. The reason we have crime and a willingness to shoot up schools, post offices, banks, churches, and any other institution, is because we teach hate; nightly. We permit those who hate to tell our citizens, our children, that hate is okay. As long as you hate the right kind of people, why, it is perfectly acceptable.

Now take a kid who has no friends, maybe bullied, and is made fun of. That kid sees that it is okay to hate those who don't see the world as you do. It is okay because they are bad people.

When was the last time a school was shot up just for the fun of it?
