Thank President Obama for Standing Strong against Republican Extortion | LeftAction

Send President Obama a message, thank him for standing strong against Republican extortion attempts, and tell him to stay strong in future fights.

A deal has been reached, and it appears that the government shutdown nightmare is finally over, at least temporarily. Republicans, driven by tea party extremists, attempted to use the shutdown and the threat of a catastrophic default to win through extortion what they could not win at the ballot box.

They failed. Because President Obama and Democratic leaders stayed strong, and refused to back down.

This is far from over though. We still have the same problems and its likely the Rs will lurch into the next mess of their own making.

First, do you honestly think the President is going to see this or care about what you think?

Second, you do realize that it was the President who was going to choose to default in order to get his way rather than compromise, don't you?

See, the Republicans weren't willing to take it any further. Obama was. He had absolutely no problem making people hurt to get what he wants.
