HAMAS (Islamic Resistance Movement) is a Palestinian faction that has taken-up the cause; that attempt to portray themselves with an image and face of a legitimate hostile defense force protecting the Palestinians from a brutal military occupation. But there must be a shortage of mirrors in the great state of Palestine. Because the Palestinians have not examined their image very well.
Israel has never really been a nation that carried the excess baggage of paranoia. While it understands the scope and nature of the Arab threat to it sovereignty and continued existence, it doesn't really the monster underneath the bed. There is no "boogeyman," or mythical monster image that frightens the Israeli into compliant behavior; that would be giving into terrorism --- an idea beyond acceptance. In fact, the Palestinian Terrorist Campaigns have had the exact opposite effect. Instead of being frightened and hiding, the Israeli (in the tradition of Dr. Abraham Van Helsing) goes after the "boogeyman" where ever it can be found; and is not afraid to drive a stake through its heart.
Israel understands and can recognize the threat. It knows what it looks like and how it works. They have seen this evil persona before, they have faced worse, and they are not afraid.
