The current use of the word liberal to describe anything new

Bullshit. That ain't what Liberal means.

-- and now you're on to "lefties" and that ain't what Liberal means either.

There ^^ is the contradiction right there.
First definition is correct. Second one directly contradicts it.

Doublethink is here.
The root is liber meaning free and unrestricted. Anything but a lefty/democrat's belief. They are about restriction and stifling change and choice.

Yeah, if its one thing liberals are against...Its change

Oh gawd
So-called liberals are against change. They refuse to consider any empirical data that challenges their outdated 1960's ideology.

Yeah, they stand against new thinking like gay rights and stuff
The homo rights misnomer is a fifty-year-old issue that has been debunked by true forward thinkers.

Gays have had the highest standard of living of pretty much any group in the US. That is because they generally don't have to worry about feeding and raising children. On top of it, they are usually career focused as a result. Also, most corporations tend to recognize gay couples and give them benefits.

The real issue is getting Americans to accept being gay as normal. That is pretty much it.

The general tendency is to making many otherwise important words unemployable due to misuse.
'Liberal' and 'Conservative' have devolved to epithets. Any dissent is classed by one side as promoting the other.
This dichotomous, dualistic, Manichean thinking has become generalized and is ruining not only language, but the world.

...So when some guy says he wants to marry his horse, they'll call it liberal....
You (Liberals) opened that door when you took sides with homosexuals and other perverts, against normal folk, and when you took sides with Illegal Aliens against your fellow countrymen, and when you took sides with Muslim Apologists against both your fellow countrymen and common sense.

Doesn't matter whether it's right or wrong, or whether it's justified or not, or any of that happy horseshit.

What matters is the PERCEPTION... and the idea that there has been enough of each of the above (and similar stances, elsewhere) for the stereotype to spawn and to take root, and to gain enough traction on the popular front, so that you feel obliged to address it publicly.

That's not simply the Opposition tagging you... that's you creating the basis for such tagging.

Welcome to your consequences.

Nothing like convincing people that Abby something is normal. That's why it's abnormal.

When companies had to implement a 40 hour work week I bet this same bunch was like "dammit LIBERALS"
