RUSH: The unemployment numbers are out. TIME Magazine. This whole subject has been a source of great irritation for me. We now have, folks, 94 million Americans not working. The labor force participation rate is at an all-time low. Now, the labor force participation rate is a percentage of able-bodied people actually working, and it's 62.6%, which is really low, it's an historic low.

What it translates to real numbers is 94 million Americans not working, and yet they report the unemployment number 5.1%. It's an insult. It's an insult to everybody's intelligence, and here we have TIME Magazine, they go through all of these numbers very excitedly.

No, it's the percent of the adult civilian non-institutional population (age 16+ not in military, prison, or an institution) who are either workin employed) or actively looking for work (unemployed). Able-bodied is not a consideration.

His whole intro was untrue and he has the nerve to say others are lying? What he fails to mention, of course, is that the 94 million are those neither working nor looking for work (it does not include the 8 million unemployed). 88 million say they don't want a job.25 million are disabled. Another 25 million are not disabled but 65 or older. 10 million are full time students

most importantly, one of the reasons the Fed has not raised interest rates is because the LFPR among the working aged population is at an all time recent high. Also because incomes are down while food stamps, incomes, and disability are up.
