The Extremist Experiment.

I'm not quite sure about the intent of the original post. Is it an argument to replace the Constitution with something more simple like a decree from the dictator?

Absolutely not! I too think that The Constitution is a great document to organize a country around.

When The Constitution was first adopted, slavery was an institution protected by it. Obviously, one of the great things about the document is a certain amount of flexibility, subject to interpretation, based on when in history the concepts are being applied. Remember, that same great document was the source of the laws that prevented women from having a vote until the 1920's.

Would you care to cite the specific sections that support your thesis?

My thesis that The Constitution is a great document to organize a country around?

That thesis is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

The only other thesis presented is that The Constitution has a certain amount of flexibility, and that is supported by the historic facts presented:

The Constitution was used to protect slavery until the 1860's, and that same Constitution was used to protect all male suffrage in to the 1920's.

The Founding Fathers Studied every form of Gov't in history to decide on a Republic.

They created a system of Checks and Balances for the sole purpose of making it VERY DIFFICULT for one side or the other to gain too much power. It's difficult to gain all the power at the same time, so therefore those in opposition can have a voice.

It was supposed to generate discussion, and COMPROMISE. That was their purpose.

We have already altered the Constitution and gone down the wrong path. We have changed things that the Founding Fathers WARNED US ABOUT. All under the guise of Public Good, and Welfare.

I'm for bringing back more of the Safe Guards of the Founding Fathers, that have been altered. They were VERY SMART PEOPLE. Which is why I'm for restoring the Constitution to it's original intent.

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a moneyed aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." Thomas Jefferson

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." Thomas Jefferson

"We, the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution." Abraham Lincoln

"The money powers prey upon the nation in times of peace and conspire against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than a monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, and more selfish than bureaucracy. It denounces as public enemies, all who question its methods or throw light upon its crimes.

I have two great enemies, the Southern Army in front of me and the Bankers in the rear. Of the two, the one at my rear is my greatest foe.. corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money powers of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in the hands of a few, and the Republic is destroyed. Abraham Lincoln

A few things to think about:
The Constitution was written on paper, not stone tablets. As written it does not make all people equal and it was intended to be that way. How long did it take for all to be granted the right to vote? The "Bill of Rights" as prepared by Mason was a longer list before it was put to a vote and approved.
As for "Our Founding Fathers", they did not speak for God. Many signers of the Constitution were not the honest, ethical or honorable people we give them credit for being.
If we learn anything from history it should be that those who disagree with us might not be wrong.
A degree of wealth was a requirement in order to vote when we became a new nation.
The Tea Party believes that a single social program makes a Socialist government.
I am in favor of a means of providing health care to all. I don't care for the plan which was passed but feel if Congress would work together it could be made into a good system.
Allowing the government to bail out businesses and banks was the major error of the decade. We the People had nothing to do with it. Who does our government represent? Has Chrysler been bailed out two or three times. I hope we don't see four. Oh that was a plan formed by the Bush Administration and carried out by Obama Administration. I guess they can work together.
I wonder how many times we have to spend billions to rebuild areas that are destroyed by weather? I think that by the third or fourth time people should be asking if it is smart living in those areas.
