Well, if that were true, then why does the GOP stupidly play right into Castro's hands by keeping the embargo in place. If the GOP had half a brain they would drop the embargo and thus destroy Castro's blaming the US for its economic troubles. For some reason the GOP wants to continue their helping Castro and prop up Communism!!!!

I think one can argue that the Chinese people benefitted from Nixon's thawing relations with China. And with Cuba, the embargo serves no useful function. The aging leftists in central and s. America (and mexico) are no longer politically relevant.
