Capitalism takes too much work and personal responsibility, the young today have grow accustomed to everything being provided for them by their parents.
Its only reasonable that as they get closer to an age where they are finding out that they have to produce some sort of benefit, that they would look to a system that the government takes over the role of mommy and daddy.
What they fail to realize is that sooner or later that free ride has to be paid for by someone, and its going to be them.

when we are young we expect everyone to pay for us.
when we go through our working years, we want to keep what we earn

I've looked at the links debunking the idea that we get more conservative as we get older. I saw nothing to suggest a willingness to live in a socialist society. It does appear they get more open-minded or accepting. But that seems more about social issues than fiscal ones.

I would still like an answer to my question.

I can understand that it must be daunting for young people. They have been raised as consumers and want all the things. To be told you can be anything, have a nice home, nice car, latest iPhone, latest gaming system etc, and they still want to go out to eat & drink. Then they find out they can't have all that got a decade or more, and that they have to sacrifice for them must be frustrating.

But they also forget, in order for them to have "stuff", someone else must sacrifice to make, ship, and sell it. Those people have to be paid.

The world is indeed filling up with bums, criminals, disabled, elderly, etc., who just want to keep leeching off the system forever.

It's why I don't really work hard anymore. I got tired of providing for them.
