It's not semantics? Why do I need a semi automatic 5.56 caliber rifle? Why do you need the right to remain silent? Actually, I do understand that, which is why I wouldn't support any assault weapon ban with a grandfather clause. Because the market was flooded with these damned things after the original ban lapsed, any legislation that included a grandfather clause would just be a toothless piece of legislation that accomplishes nothing except making pussy liberals feel like they accomplished something.
