There is no photograph or artistic rendition or even a written description of Jesus of Nazareth to inform us of what he looked like. And despite that we know his mother was a Jew of the tribe of Judah and also related to the Letites, Christians of different cultures and experiences more often think of Jesus as looking like them.

Thus we have artistic renditions of Jesus that are black, brown, Asian, American Indian and everything in between. And occasionally you have one that is more European white looking even with blue eyes but that is pretty rare. It isn't something that is prevalent in any culture.

I'm pretty sure the real Jesus doesn't care how He is imaged by those who are faithful to him.

The issue here seems to be that us Christians won't worship a guy that doesn't look like us.
However, many blacks think that Jesus was black like them. If he wasn't, then they feel they can't trust him cuz all white people are the Devil to them.
Personally I don't care. All I know is he took the worst ass-whipping imaginable and was crucified for my sins.
And that's all that matters to me.

I'm a bit more lenient in my views about that. When we see an artists rendition of a black Jesus, I just see see affirmation of black people relating to, accepting Jesus. Again it is normal human instinct to relate Jesus, who we can only imagine in our minds as to how he looked, to be more like us.

That doesn't mean we reject images that don't look like us. I think the artist renditions of Jesus as looking more like other races as absolutely beautiful and I no way feel less reverent seeing them than I do seeing Hook's Head of Christ:

Sure, we'd like to know what Jesus looked like, but I'm certain that however he looked, it was beautiful, and the goodness inside him shown in his eyes and his face.

I was very specific in my previous posts that nobody knows what Jesus looked like as there is no artist rendition or even written description of Jesus' appearance from his time on Earth.

But we can know that he most likely was not a stern, gloomy, forbidding figure as he drew the crowds and the children to him and was an oft invited guest to people's homes. I like the artist renditions of the joyous Jesus I imagine that he was:
