US oil production peaked in 1971 , it had a brief uptick in the 2010's because of oil shale production ( fracking , etc. ) but now that has all but petered out for good. The resulant methane pollution causes billions of dollars in health costs each year. A no-win situation. More false hope for the hopeless.
