This whole biblical bs about a fall from grace, born into sin, an empty evil life if forgiveness is not sought from an imaginary figure in the sky...
Can we evovle? Can we as a species grow up and leave the childish fears and science of thousands of years ago behind? Like Joseph Campbell said on mpre than one occasion, the is no conflict between mysticism and science, but there is conflict between the science of thousands of years ago and the science of the 21st century.
The people who gave us a punishing brutal father figure as the one true god, also knew little beyond the horizons of the regions they lived in. This Pope's beliefs come out of that world.
