The difference is Clinton was impeached and Edwards career was ruined.

Right wing Christians made Trump president.

For Democrats, sex outside of marriage was a minus. For Republicans, Trump sexual assaulting unwilling women was a "plus".

Clinton was impeached because perjury is against the law. He was also disbarred over his lying.

Edwards lied, had a baby while his wife was dying and tried to blame his friend.

We are jaded enough to believe that a consensual affair ten years ago is not going to be remarkable at all.
