The reason Congress has banned all Vaping

Businesses compete with each other. I doubt PM wants to ban vaping. I can see them wanting to make the FDA process as difficult as possible when it comes to testing and certifying vape products.

I disagree completely. PM is in the tobacco business.

PM will adjust to selling vapes, because you can extract nicotine from tobacco.

Congress just voted to ban all vaping.PM isn’t adjusting to shit. PM called the shot as I just outlined so they don’t force the states to default on their tobacco bonds.

Do links make it any more or less real? Connect the dots yourself. Don’t be a sheep.

No, link to congress passing a vaping ban.

The best I could find is the House passing something raising the vaping age to 21.

Yes, I communicated as much earlier ITT.

My point is that it’s not about the children, it’s about state tobacco bonds defaulting.

To summarize.

Saving the children = bullshit
Saving tobacco bonds = truth

Congress should look into vaping. For decades we have lowered the number of people smoking using conventional methods however we now have an industry, whether they are targeting kids or not has increased the use of tobacco among younger people.

U.S. Smoking Rate Hits New Low, But Vaping Rises

E-cigarette use among adults saw a modest increase, up from 2.8% in 2017 to 3.2% in 2018, researchers said.

But 21% of U.S. high school students had vaped within the past month in 2018, and they are expected to cause an uptick in adult tobacco use rates as they enter young adulthood, researchers said.

One sign this is happening: The rate of e-cigarette use among 18- to 24-year-olds increased more than among adults overall, rising from 5.2% in 2017 to 7.6% in 2018.

Also e-cigarettes have additional health concerns.

Beyond nicotine addiction, vaping also includes its own set of health hazards, noted Dr. Len Horovitz, a pulmonary specialist with Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

More than 2,000 cases of severe lung illness have been linked to vaping, and the CDC reported last week that one oily chemical -- vitamin E acetate -- has been found in fluid samples from the lungs of 29 vapers hospitalized in 10 states.

But the CDC has not ruled out the possibility that other compounds or ingredients might be contributing to the wave of vaping-related lung illness.

The reason e-cigarettes are being targeted now in 2020 and not cigarettes is because one is on the decline and the other is on the upswing. It's not a conspiracy to protect Phillip-Morris.

Most cases of "think of the Children" are basically appeals to emotion, on this I agree with regards to the whole vaping thing.

What I believe is any attempts at vaping bans are doomed to failure because of the ease of making the fluids yourself, and the already existing "underground" market of pot vape equipment, that seemingly flourishes despite said equipment being illegal as "paraphernalia"

No matter what laws may pass or not pass, if there is a market, the products will exist.

Cocaine is illegal, but exists.

Cocaine use is down and doesn't even measure up to cigarette consumption. But if you legalized it and sold it in stores I'd imagine that would turn around real quick.

But if you legalized it, marketed, packaged and sold in local gas stations, online and in convenience stores across the country that would probably change.
