The Republican party dodged a bullet

They essentially won this election. It's a best case scenario. They've managed to rid themselves of Trump, without losing power entirely. They should count their blessings and focus on those runoff elections in GA. Holding the Senate is vital. Then, they need top prepare for a full frontal assault on the EC.
If Trump does lose, I don't think the party has "managed to rid themselves" of him. He might very launch that media company, and he'd be ALL OVER IT. His minions aren't going anywhere. He is literally their hero. They'll only back Trump-like GOP candidates, because they need his approval.

The party may have this stink on it for as long as he's talking.

He will certainly be desperately seeking HEY LOOKA ME ATTENTION as he always has. There's no way around that, it's like a wart.
That is, at least until the day he goes to prison.

I agree with the OP though. The numbers show that it was the person, not the party, that disgusted the electorate, although there is some degree of residual negative sentiment about "anybody who sucked up to this asshole" by association.

Not everyone has Trump Derangement Syndrome. Are you going to be released from the hospital soon now?

And changing the EC would require a Constitutional Amendment and ratification of 3/4 of the State legislatures. Why worry about that? Georgia electing two Democrats would let your crazy party eliminate the filibuster, stack the court and add four Senators in DC and PR. That's the real threat

Mac slams Trump, starts humping the leg of the nearest Democrat. Where have we seen that before?

You're Mr. Spam. No content ever. 74K posts with the sum total of see Dick run in content.

You love you some Democrats. Got it. Got it 74K posts ago ...

I can see that, but I've never looked at this as Trump. It's Trumpism. It's fueled by talk radio, and Trump is simply the symbol of it. I don't see these people suddenly switching back to the evil commie RINOs they've been insulting for so long.

Or, I could be wrong. What I do know is that we need two serious, credible parties, and we don't have them.

Speaking of "look at me," LOL.

In a country that leans Democrat, Trump took it to the wire. That isn't disgusting "the electorate," moron.

But you did get us to look at you ...

Hopefully Trump continues with the tantrums and sours Georgia even more....

Dems get senate and DC and Puerto Rico get full State rights

That's going to happen anyways, it's only a matter of time. You're becoming more and more a One Party System controlled by wealth over principle.

You've relied on British intel which has been horrific for decades. It's why you lose Crimea, H.K and other major successes for the communist axis. Nobody will say "hey, maybe we don't know what we are doing?" Instead, they will follow the same bad advisors. Now you will face the devil the entire West has been propping up but you won't have ANY leverage. It's going to be a crazy four years of Chinese outreach to U.S agents with classified information.

I remember reading the story of a high ranking FBI agent who was caught spying for the Russians in the 1980s. I think a movie was made on the case actually, and the FBI did a good job of catching him. In his interview from prison, they asked him why he betrayed his country, his response was "because I believe that the communist are going to win this battle and I wanted to be on the winning side".

Do we want to pretend that China isn't really winning today? If you work for the FBI and you see that more and more are turning against men like Trump who wanted to confront China finally?

Mark these words. Any FBI or CIA who scour this forum, be aware, China is not going to allow the opportunity of Trump out of the W.H go to waste.
No they didn't win. They could still lose the Senate and there is chatter of millions going into GA for the senate, and Abrams out to get the vote out. That means a tie + Harris, right?

I think the Biden victory makes this suddenly much less likely. I suspect even some moderate Democrats don't want to witness the carnage of single party rule.

The GOP will be known as perpetuate losers for the next 20 years. The "spoiler" politicians who are viewed by voters as being too weak to lead.

I think you're kidding yourself. Despite going up against the worst candidate in modern history, Democrats only barely managed to beat him. That's anything but a "mandate".

You don't get it. How many millions turned to Trump after voting Obama? You think the will support Lindsay Graham or Ted Cruz?

I can just see on the faces of the CBC commentators, they think this is going to be a big shift of the USA to socialism and for a long time. You don't turn back the clock on socialism, just look at Obamacare thanks to rats like McCain.

... changing the EC would require a Constitutional Amendment and ratification of 3/4 of the State legislatures. Why worry about that?

Because it can be attacked in other ways, and if Republicans lose the Senate it most certainly will be.

... eliminate the filibuster, stack the court and add four Senators in DC and PR. That's the real threat

All of the above is a threat as well. It's vital that they hold the Senate.

People are nuts if they dont think other republicans will now copy the Trump playbook for making our economy roar.
The "Trump playbook for making the economy roar":
  1. Massive spending increases
  2. Massive deficit increases
  3. Massive debt increases
  4. Protracted manufacturing recession throughout 2019
  5. Bond yields crashing by 60%
  6. Reliance on the central Federal Reserve for using TRILLIONS to be the market buyer of last resort
  7. Reliance on the NY Fed to pour $1.5 TRILLION into short term credit markets to grease the system
  8. All that, for a 2.4% GDP growth figure when the virus hit
Wow, that's really great.

I'll bet you haven't been told any of that in your world.

What is Bidens Playbook?
You're on "the internet". If you had any curiosity, at all, you would look it up.

But then, you'd dismiss it.
Anyone in their right mind would dismiss it.

I'm watching Biden read through his transcript from last night, I'm still not sure what his plan is. He said he has a mandate to deal with systemic racism.
Well that sounds like a colossal waste of time and money. Looking for unicorns and goblins is not a winning strategy.

So tragic watching a supposed libertarian waving the neocon banner.

I suspect those affected by Follower Syndrome will just obediently follow whoever says "follow me" regardless of parties or labels. They've certainly bent over backward to demonstrate that's what they want.

I've always drawn a stark distinction between Rump and the party (horse) he chose to ride for the occasion. Person is not Party, Party is not Person. Obviously he has no personal politics beyond "serve Numero Uno", which is why opposition to him was never political but personal. Those who sycophrantically shill for him like to hide behind concepts of "the right" or "Republicans" but those are irrelevant.

What Rump brought to the stage was Cult of Personality, certainly nowhere near the first to do so but the latest. Cultism could be couched in politics, it could be couched in religion, it could be couched in pop culture, and equally destructive in any avenue but particularly where power is involved. Its weapon is dystopian mass psychology and its enemy is Free Thought. Those who relinquish the latter fill the swamp the rest of us have to swim in.

This. Which is one of the reason why I don’t think Republicans (except for his most ardent supporters) will let Trump pull too many shenanigans. They did well and are well positioned for 2022. Why let Trump screw it up?

You're welcome to try to prove ANY of them wrong. The more, the merrier.

I'll wait here.
