Marco Rubio is taking center stage as Republicans search for a new leader.

.......he's trying to save us from ourselves," says Al Cardenas, the chairman of the American Conservative Union

Time magazine just splashed Rubio on its cover, anointing him "The Republican Savior."

Mindful that "amnesty" remains a dirty word in the GOP and that many still flinch at immigration changes approved under President Ronald Reagan, Rubio courted conservative talk-radio hosts and news outlets to head off criticism

Rubio has had detractors, too.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter said Rubio's plan would allow illegal immigrants to live and work in the U.S., essentially jumping ahead of those who have waited in their own countries to immigrate to the U.S. legally. Louisiana Sen. David Vitter, a Republican, called Rubio "naive."

In post-election vacuum, Rubio on rise within GOP - Yahoo! News

The only thing which might save the GOP is another Jesus deal and that first one is the shadiest thing ever forced onto the human race.

Hahahahaaaa......Laughing my ass off. The Republicans are scrambling to do exactly what the Democrats did in 2004. Remember who made the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in Boston that year?

Republicans are so s-l-o-w. The party of old white men. That's why they lost their ass and now looking to someone they would otherwise hold in total disdain. Hypocrites.

Obama will turn out to be a great boost to the gop when working class families no longer get a mortgage deduction on their tax and their health benefits are taxed as well to pay for obama care.

I imagine when families are shelling out $20,000 a year for the most basic health plan allowed under ObamaCare in 2016 they won't be all that enamored with the current leadership.

Rubio seems to have done a good job fooling a lot of republicans and the pundits, where the former are clearly desperate for some sort of quick fix.

Otherwise, it makes no difference whom republicans perceive as a ‘savior’ if they continue to allow their party to be dominated by the social right, Christian fundamentalists, fiscal extremists, and warmongering neo-cons.

Why does the GOP need a "savior"? Republicans hold a solid majority in the House and democrats hold a slim majority in the senate. All of this rhetoric about "saving" the GOP is really a dodge to keep from talking about the incredible mess Obama is mired in.

I would place even odds on Marco being the GOP Nominee in 2016.

I met him in 08. Great guy and smart as hell.

His immigration plan is going to hurt him in the primaries with the hard core "deportation only" Republican base.

You know, Mr. Jones, the GOP listened to the liberal media and essentially allowed the DNC to pick their nominee in 2008 and 2012. Hopefully, the GOP will stop listening.

You keep telling us who we should run and we refuse to see that you are handing of dull, uncharismatic has beens that are know as "Mavericks" and "able to reach across the aisle" knowing full well that even if they should win, they won't have the balls to undo all the damage Liberals have done in one or two terms.
A strong, charismatic Conservative would devastate obamacare, DADT, the EPA and make us net energy producers, not dependent on the Middle East for energy.

Rubio simply does not have the sand that Christie, Martinez, and Jindall exhibit.

He won't be the 2106 candidate.

A conservative who is willing to reach out to women and Hispanics is the type of GOP candidate that we responsible Republicans need. No neo-con, no social values radical need apply

Martinez?

Why do you feel Rubio isn't willing to reach out to Hispanics? He is the one in the Senate Republican Caucus authoring legislation to give temporary legal status to millions of illegal Hispanics right now.
