Quick question as to a term of art. Is he a farrier or a blacksmith?

I dont know if the guy actually does the shoeing which is a farrier or just the shoe making.
I'd bet he knows both though.
Thanks! I thought a farrier both made and applied the shoes. While a blacksmith did all types of forge work.

Kind of the same difference between a compositor who sets the type and a printer who runs the press.

A farrier today does minor adjustments to pre cast shoes for fitment.
I'd bet in the old days he was one and the same.
 
Truly amazing skill.

I see things like this and I wonder who the folks were over the many years who figured out stuff like this could even be done? All the trial and error work that went into developing the wherewithal for such artistry. The human spirit to seek and accomplish really is limitless.
