Former republican congressman Davis

We've become a regional party, basically become a white, rural, regional party, and not a national party. And we're going to have to retool ourselves,” he added"

Jane Devin: The Christian Right Killed the Republican Party

The 95-page report from the College Republican National Committee, the latest post-mortem from party leadership, paints a grim picture of the GOP’s image with voters under 29, citing a series of surveys and focus groups conducted before and after the 2012 presidential election. The report found that younger voters – even those considered “winnable” for Republicans-- tended to associate the party with words like “rich” and “religious” while stating that adjectives like “open-minded,” “caring,” and “co-operative” were traits that least describe the GOP. :eusa_whistle:

The republican party is not going anywhere and has plenty of influence in national politics. Thinking the republican party is dying is nothing more than wishful thinking.

In order for the the Republican Party to attract younger voters, it would have to become exactly the kind of party that the Right has been focused for decades now on preventing it from becoming.

Most young folks are pretty liberal and they stay that way till they are out in the world and have to earn a living.

When they have bills to pay, families to support, cars and houses to support they become more conservative.

Hey. The world is great till you have to start paying your own way then you realize the liberal view ain't that great.

Close minded, intolerant, bigoted, caustic and vile are now terms associated with LIBERALS, not the republican party... and you've EARNED IT.

Jerk offs.

Actually what the GOP does doesn't matter.

The real problem is the media.

Without them Democrats wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning elections. Just look how they've been able to re-elect a corrupt, self-centered, incompetent fool like Obama.

How do social issues stand in the way of paying one's bills?

You know, yesterday on Phil Valentine one of his guests said that as long as he identified himself as a conservative college students would boo him and not listen to his speeches. However, all he had to do was give the entire speech in a thick Scottish accent and the same low-information college students would agree with everything he said. They felt that being from a foreign country gave him legitimacy.

It's really twisted that our kids would rather listen to a foreigner than an American Republican. This is the result of state sponsored discrimination. A form of oppression so to speak. Some would call it liberal indoctrination.

'Conservative' doesn't have to mean 'nuts', or 'mean-spirited', or 'paranoid', or.........

The media is free enterprise, profit driven. If the media slants to the left, it's only because that's where the money is.

Yes, The Media!!!
If they would only stop reporting what the Republicans say it would be a more level playing field...

Right.

Glenn Beck has come under attack by Obama representatives while he was at Fox. They tried to get him fired, and when that didn't work they had their friends at Media Matters and MSNBC bad-mouth him to the point that everyone thinks he's a kook. This is not what happens in America or at least it shouldn't be happening.

Every conservative talk-show host has been investigated by the IRS. Anyone who doesn't carry Obama's water gets the same treatment, so spare me the bullshit.

I've seen stories about folks that weren't even Republicans yet were identified as such saying stupid shit all of the time. Every mass murderer is initially labeled as a former Tea Party member or member of the GOP even when they're actually far left leaning Atheist former college students. Fact is, if the press can't find a conservative that says something stupid they use RINOs or some unknown Joe Smuck to fill in the blanks. At the same time they're ignoring all of the idiotic Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi statements. Harry Reid constantly slanders Republicans but can't be prosecuted because he always says it on the floor of the Senate which protects him from prosecution.

Conservatives tend to be more responsible, with a willingness to educate themselves to make more informed financial decisions, based on the desire to become more self reliant and independent from government. Liberals have a much greater need to rely on government to assist them in their everyday lives (foreclosures, retirement, free health care, etc).

When you have the ability to learn to become more financially responsible, you also have the ability and desire to be more charitable. In fact "charity" is a trait that is more often found through individuals who tend to view themselves as conservatives, than liberals who are often less charitable.

I am not sure there is even a way to shake that perception even though it is an absolute fallacy. It is something that has been drilled in to their head via our public education system from day one, re-enforced in our higher education system, and preached about incessantly in the MSM.

Come on, the GOP's cheerleaders are also their worst publicity.

That's a lie of course.

Fox doesn't put out the kind of crap you see every single day on MSNBC.

It's clear you are not a rational person.

No, they put out a different kind of crap.
Come on, be honest, you sometimes seem like a rational person yourself, you must cringe with some of the stuff the representatives of the Right come out with.
