The 95-page report from the College Republican National Committee, the latest post-mortem from party leadership, paints a grim picture of the GOP’s image with voters under 29, citing a series of surveys and focus groups conducted before and after the 2012 presidential election. The report found that younger voters – even those considered “winnable” for Republicans-- tended to associate the party with words like “rich” and “religious” while stating that adjectives like “open-minded,” “caring,” and “co-operative” were traits that least describe the GOP. :eusa_whistle:

College Republicans latest to issue warnings for party's future - NBC Politics

Most young folks are pretty liberal and they stay that way till they are out in the world and have to earn a living.

When they have bills to pay, families to support, cars and houses to support they become more conservative.

Hey. The world is great till you have to start paying your own way then you realize the liberal view ain't that great.

These are young College Republicans who are documenting what they see as wrong with their chosen party

Actually what the GOP does doesn't matter.

The real problem is the media.

Without them Democrats wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning elections. Just look how they've been able to re-elect a corrupt, self-centered, incompetent fool like Obama.

The media is free enterprise, profit driven. If the media slants to the left, it's only because that's where the money is.

Right.

Glenn Beck has come under attack by Obama representatives while he was at Fox. They tried to get him fired, and when that didn't work they had their friends at Media Matters and MSNBC bad-mouth him to the point that everyone thinks he's a kook. This is not what happens in America or at least it shouldn't be happening.

Every conservative talk-show host has been investigated by the IRS. Anyone who doesn't carry Obama's water gets the same treatment, so spare me the bullshit.

Liberals can't stand a difference in opinion, or a voice that speaks contrary to their ideological "beliefs". When you don't allow yourself to assimilate with the left wing mindset, they will demonize you (calling you a racist or even an Uncle Tom) simply FOR that difference in opinion. This only shows their growing intolerance towards others (conservative or libertarian), and a belief in free speech when it only serves to support THEIR point of view.

...and by watching the news and Fox television.
Come on, the GOP's cheerleaders are also their worst publicity.

That's a lie of course.

Fox doesn't put out the kind of crap you see every single day on MSNBC.

It's clear you are not a rational person.

No, they put out a different kind of crap.
Come on, be honest, you sometimes seem like a rational person yourself, you must cringe with some of the stuff the representatives of the Right come out with.

With fox? not so much anymore, but the new Ultra right wing Blaze cable station? now that is crap t.v. ..

Are you ready to show your open mindedness and embrace it?

'Conservative' doesn't have to mean 'nuts', or 'mean-spirited', or 'paranoid', or.........
And of course it doesn't. But those words ARE now associated with liberals, who have been witnessing the decay of their party since the reelection of their messiah, who along with his cohorts in crime are now embroiled neck deep in scandals, and it's getting worse by the day, making your attitudes more vile by the day.

We all know you liberals thrive on the power to TELL people what to do, whether they want to or not. Just ask that libroid shit stain Bloomberg in NYC. So we all realize it must SUCK to be you right about now, to watch your dictators and wanna be junior hitlers losing their grip on power.

How do social issues stand in the way of paying one's bills?

It takes tax dollars to support social issues. Things you thought were just dandy as a young person who was having everything payed for by parents become an issue when you yourself have to fund them.

I was pretty liberal as a young person.

Never thought jack about Welfare, medicaid or corporate welfare.

Believe me as soon as I realized I was slaving 40+ hours every week just to survive and my tax dollars were funding every freeloader in America my whole mindset changed.

Right... with the SAME "open mindedness" you liberals embrace the CONSERVATIVE OPINION HERE WITH...

... give me a break.

Is that the best you can do? That tired old hypocrite, double standard, libtard crap?

Remember, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? Only one, but the bulb has to want to change.

The fact is that there is a radical faction that has taken over the Republican party that doesn't want to change. They think the GOP keeps losing because they haven't gone far enough to the right.

It's going to be an interesting election cycle in the next few years...

I am not sure there is even a way to shake that perception even though it is an absolute fallacy. It is something that has been drilled in to their head via our public education system from day one, re-enforced in our higher education system, and preached about incessantly in the MSM.

It actually comes down to the role of family. Too often people look at hollywood actors, sports figures, a catholic pope, or a popular politician as the proper "role model" ... only to be let down by controversy. Parents need to become that proper role model for their kids, to become more involved in their child's life, not become passive and simply allow the education system (or Hollywood) to take that control of responsibility from them. Family should be the greatest influence we have in re-shaping the younger generation.

It doesn't answer my question

You claim liberals are close minded. This must mean you are confident that conservatives are open minded.

Are you personally willing to embrace the recommendations of these young Republicans or are YOU too close minded?

What's the Liberal equivalent of RINO?

Liberals can't stand a difference in opinion, or a voice that speaks contrary to their ideological "beliefs".

Is that supposed to be in contrast to conservatives?

Why don't you name for us...

1. The conservatives in the media, radio hosts, cable news figures, who are tolerant and amenable and open to liberal beliefs.

2. The conservatives on this forum who qualify as the above.

You know, yesterday on Phil Valentine one of his guests said that as long as he identified himself as a conservative college students would boo him and not listen to his speeches. However, all he had to do was give the entire speech in a thick Scottish accent and the same low-information college students would agree with everything he said. They felt that being from a foreign country gave him legitimacy.

It's really twisted that our kids would rather listen to a foreigner than an American Republican. This is the result of state sponsored discrimination. A form of oppression so to speak. Some would call it liberal indoctrination.

Guess it goes along with you folks pledging allegiance to Netanyahu and Putin over our own President.

Since the mainstream of the Right is obsessed with ideological purity, it doesn't care if younger voters reject their ideology;

the Right is take-it-or-leave-it.

You do realise that we aren't in October 2012 anymore don't you?
The self-delusional world of the conservatives has been shattered.
Sorry 'bout that.

How do social issues stand in the way of paying one's bills?

When a group of people find it socially acceptable NOT to be responsible while feeling it is the social responsibility of others to pay for their shit.. it is a social issue

And exactly what have republicans ever done to relieve the taxpayer of that burden?

Generally.. you will see registered republicans or conservatives supportive of flax taxes, fair taxes, etc.. this is not prevalent in the dems or liberals, especially amongst the young or those who support the unequal treatment of others and who can benefit from people paying for their shit

I do not defend the recent fiscal record of most REP politicians.. and you have not seen me do it... but even though I do not support and have not supported their actions, it does not mean I will support the opposition when their approach towards redistribution and 'progressive' taxes (and let us not forget entitlement spending) is even worse
