Top IRS Official: Agency Targeted Conservative Groups Based on Guilt By Association And Party

You're saying the IRS discriminated against them because of their politics?

That's hilarious. They were applying for tax exemptions that required them NOT to be political.

You people will never get that.
The RNC and DNC are tax exempt organizations, dufus.
Honestly, if you had an ounce of knowledge you'd be a conservative.

You cannot have a non-profit organization or corporation which has a political purpose. It violates IRS rules.

Here are the rules:

Can Nonprofits Engage in Political Activity?
Good....then you won't mind us using the IRS to target all your liberal groups.....

Yep, she just OK'd that. As long as they just target leftist "political" groups and not other left leaning causes, Mrs Mao is good

And they should have. The law is the law. Party affiliation should have nothing to do with it.
Something Dems may want to take note of.
Article 2 of Nixon's Articles of Impeachment.
Nixon only ATTEMPTED to use the IRS as a political weapon.

He has, acting personally and through his subordinates and agents, endeavored to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposed not authorized by law, and to cause, in violation of the constitutional rights of citizens, income tax audits or other income tax investigations to be initiated or conducted in a discriminatory manner.

But that's different, he was a Republican. It's only bad if Republicans do it - one law for our rulers, another for the commoners and Republicans.

The reason Nixon resigned was because after the recording of his remarks that proved he was deeply involved were made public, several Republicans also voted in favor of impeachment. The Democrats couldn't have removed him from office with out Republican help. He knew the Republicans had abandon him.

Like think progress, media matters, moveon, etc.

Then you agree with the IRS did. After all they would give an extra scrutiny for an organization whose sole purpose is to stop taxation.

Tea partiers aren't trying to stop taxation. Why do you make up stupid shit like that?

Tea = taxed enough already .

Agreed.

And "taxed enough already" is not equal to "stop taxation"

Then what are they trying to stop ?

Why wouldn't the tax department take a closer look at an anti tax group who (ironically ) is applying for a tax exemption?

That baffles you , but publicly manhandling a black man for no reason. is perfectly fine .

It's "ironic" that a group that thinks we pay enough taxes already is applying for a tax exemption?

:wtf:

And by that I mean

:wtf:

You weren't an A student, were you?

Yes . The irony is that the group applied for and got tax exempt status .

"We are taxed enough already ! Well, not us because we are tax exempt " .

I never said I was for IRS targeting . I am against blanket profiling . Unlike you righties who love it , until it happens to you .

Without evidence that said groups are breaking laws, yes. When, OTOH, said groups ARE breaking laws, it makes no sense to go after everyone else but them.

Well well well . Righties get a small taste profiling and suddenly its a great injustice!?

Hypocrites. You are usually calling FOR profiling .
Sure, when the law has already been broken. You do realize, don't you, that the law had not been broken in this case? IOW, when there is a rash of bombs being carried on airplanes by young black men, it makes no sense to pat down Swedish Grandmothers on their way to visit their grandchildren. OTOH, if there is no rash of bombs on planes, it would be racial profiling to pull aside young black men for extra searches on the suspicion that they may be carrying a bomb. That in essence is what the IRS was doing in this case.

Then you agree with the IRS did. After all they would give an extra scrutiny for an organization whose sole purpose is to stop taxation.

What law was broken that justifies the profiling?

Missing the point entirely. The individuals are taxed enough already, so why should a group of them be taxed more?

Really, they don't pay personal taxes on the rest of their money? What do you think they are, Clintons? I guess they aren't, then you wouldn't be objecting

It's amazing how stupid liberals are.

You think you pay enough, well then you should want to pay more!

He really, actually, truly thinks that's clever

When, over the span of 2 years, 15 young blond waitresses turn up dead, all with the same symbol carved on their foreheads, the FBI assumes a serial killer is on the loose, correct?

Answer: Yes, they do. Who do they always look for?

Answer: A white man in his 30's, fairly good looking and suave who lives alone. Why?

Answer: Because almost all serial killers turn out to be white men in their 30's, fairly good looking and suave who live alone. No serial killers, to the best of my knowledge, were ever named Shaniqua. Do we criticize the FBI for creating this profile?

Answer: No, we do not, because crimes are being committed and we want to stop them before any more girls turn up dead. In this case, however, no crime has been committed and there is no good reason to profile groups with conservative sounding names.
