Trump deal loses 1300 jobs before he ever takes office ..

Breaking ! (added for RW drama)

Conveniently, we now have the details.

As Fortune reports, citing a source close to the company, Trump called Greg Hayes, CEO of Carrier’s parent company United Technologies, two weeks ago and asked him to rethink the decision to close the Carrier plant in Indiana. Hayes explained that the jobs were lower-wage and had high turnover, and the move was necessary to keep the plant competitive, according to the source. He said the plan would save the company $65 million a year.

Trump then replied that those savings would be dwarfed by the savings UTC would enjoy from corporate tax-rate reductions he planned to put in place. During the recent campaign, Trump threatened to slap tariffs on Carrier imports from Mexico.

So what were the "incentives"? In the end, UTC agreed to retain approximately 800 manufacturing jobs at the Indiana plant that had been slated to move to Mexico, as well as another 300 engineering and headquarters jobs. In return, the company will get roughly $700,000 a year for a period of years in state tax incentives. Still, some 1,300 jobs will still go to Mexico, which includes 600 Carrier employees, plus 700 workers from UTEC Controls in Huntington, Ind.

In summary, the "math" works out to $636 per year per job saved in tax savings: hardly an egregious sum, and one which could likely be extended to other companies (unless, of course, those other companies decide to hold Trump hostage and demand escalating pay schedules) if and when Trump's fiscal stimulus package is implemented. It remains to be seen if the popular response, outside of conservative groups, will interpret this trade off as taxpayer funded "moral hazard."

SUCKERS !!!!!
And doesn't sound like those employees will be getting raises anytime soon. But in Republand workers are just happy to have a job. Workers are not happy they are a bunch of Bob Cratchit's
so you mean those employees that were interviewed lied on tv?

SUCKERS !!!!!
How did Trump's deal with Carrier lose 1300 jobs?

ALL of the jobs were already going to Mexico before the deal - Trump prevented 1,100 jobs from going to Mexico.

D@mn, you snowflakes are DESPERATE to manufacture fake news against Trump.

Bullshit. Trump lied his ass off.

He ‘lied his a– off': Carrier union leader on Trump’s big deal
The 1,100 number was put out by Carrier, he just repeated it. The union asshole is probably why they were leaving in the first place.

It wasn't their jobs he saved, it was their pensions, which would have been worth pennies on the dollar if the Companies could have shed them to government insurance via bankruptcy.

And their jobs. The industries ended up leaner and meaner and he also took away some of the unions's power . I'm surprised the right don't love him for it.

Would the # of jobs remaining have been different after a bankruptcy re-organization?

Also, I guess fuck the stockholders and bondholders, right?

SUCKERS !!!!!

It's impossible to have honest debate with NaziCons who won't even admit to whether it's night or day outside.
Hard to have a debate with dims who don't realize it's day and night at the same time on Earth. Every day.

1100 stayed
1300 left

his deal BEFORE he took office

what part of that confuses you idiotboi?
I am now quite positive that 'Liberalism' is a DISEASE, specifically a MENTAL DISORDER.

ALL jobs scheduled to leave.
Trump steps in, prevents 1100 from leaving.
Liberals claim 1300 jobs already scheduled to leave are doing so BECAUSE of Trump.

...proof that liberals, such as yourself, are 'DAIN BRAMAGED'.

PARTISAN, SORE-LOSER, SOUR-GRAPES, HATE-DRIVEN BUTT-HURT HAS FRIED YOUR MIND AND DESTROYED YOUR ABILITY TO USE COMMON SENSE.

Since he has a real problem being current, we need a volunteer to tell Siete Christmas was a few days ago and remeind him to set his alarm for New Year's Eve/Day so he doesn't miss them too.

Again, Barry violated bankruptcy law when he 'nationalized' Chevy, sold off part of the company to a foreign company that was in worse financial debt, and lost money when his administration finally sold most of the stocks it retained.

Government sells last of its GM shares

"U.S. taxpayers no longer own any of automaker General Motors. The Treasury sold the last of its remaining 31.1 million GM shares today. It started with 500 million shares in 2010.

The taxpayer loss on the GM bailout is $10.5 billion. The Treasury department said it recovered $39 billion from selling its GM stake, and had put $49.5 billion of taxpayer money directly into the GM bailout."

Outsourcer-In-Chief: Obama Of General Motors

"GM’s December 31, 2011 annual report shows General Motors of North America accounting for 98,000 of the 207,000 GM jobs worldwide. But 12,000 of these jobs are in Canada and 11,500 are in Mexico. Accordingly, GM has 74,500 jobs in the United States and 122,500 abroad, even after Obama’s touted surge in Detroit jobs. Almost two thirds of GM’s jobs are in other countries."

Better than zero jobs nowhere...
how you figure? there was an out for GM legally, without losing jobs you fool.

Would the # of jobs remaining have been different after a bankruptcy re-organization?

Also, I guess fuck the stockholders and bondholders, right?

Ah, that is a fair question. I don't know to be honest. They did go into bankruptcy. You do now that?

I don't have too much sympathy for stockholders and bondholders. Stocks are risky, thus why I've never owned any. Major stockholders don't have much sympathy when the fuck over mum and dad stockholders. I don't have much sympathy for them when they get fucked over.

Funny - Obama breaks the law, sells off part of GM, loses $10 billion in tax dollars, and 2/3rds of GM's jobs are overseas after Barry's 'rescue' of GM....and you say:

'Better than zero jobs nowhere'....but criticize Trump for saving 1100 US jobs.

What a f*ing partisan hypocrite.

It was a bankruptcy where a company made out of thin air and backed by the government bought out most of the assets of the original company before the real creditors had even a chance to get in on the action.

And while your disdain of stockholders and bondholders is typical, where do you think most of those assets are held, and if this trend continues, who will get hurt?

here's a hint, take a look at the fund holdings of your pension/401k and you will get an idea who actually gets screwed by this.

how you figure? there was an out for GM legally, without losing jobs you fool.

we'll never know. Bush can take some responsibility too. He provided the Tarp money..
can't argue that, but we do know, that is how most businesses handle it and it works. And thanks for blaming bush, it makes my day.

What a f*ing partisan hypocrite.

1) He didn't break the law
2) How did he lose money? They paid the govt back.

In 2008, the entire auto industry was in very bad shape. Layoffs at auto plants and among auto parts suppliers were on track to reach 250,000 workers. Today, total employment for carmakers and parts suppliers is up about 250,000 from 2009. In 2011, sales rose 10 percent for GM, 13 percent for Ford and 14 percent for Chrysler. Did President Obama save the auto industry?

Save your BS for the Trump sheep. BTW, I'm not criticising Trump at all. I'm criticising partisan hacks like you who give Trump a pat on the back for save 1100 jobs, while at the same time criticising Obama (and to a lesser degree - vicariously Bush) for saving the auto industry. There's partisan hackery going on all right. Not from me.
