I seriously doubt that is the case was this tight, that this idiot DA would have added one felony count for each time Trump's company paid Cohen's monthly salary.There is a high probability that the DA knows not to build a case around the verbal testimony of a single individual. Which is a mindset some like to propose. But the probability is that after months and months of investigations, subpoenas, and Grand Jury testimony there will be multiple corroborating testimonies and a very precise paper trail.

All that could be written off as as a retainer if there was some kind of attempt to obfuscate.Cohen wasn’t an employee and therefore wasn’t paid a salary.
Cohen invoiced legal bills for no services and was paid out of accounts payable when no work was performed.
If the Trump Organization had hired him and made him a VP for $1,000,000 year then there would have been no exposure for Trump in paying the salary. Instead they attempted to launder the money and got caught (allegedly).
