In the wake of Hurricane Helene with a death toll of at least 130 so far, and reports of bodies in the trees, what is of utmost importance to our government instead of mitigating suffering and further death?

Remember Ford’s line about quality being job 1? At FEMA, Equity is job 1.
After equity comes ‘climate resilience’ and only in third place is to ‘Promote and Sustain a Ready FEMA and Prepared Nation’ which can mean (if you’re generous and naive) doing its actual job.

But first comes FEMA’s primary mission to ‘Instill Equity as a Foundation of Emergency Management’.
