Trump’s Christian supporters are ‘slimy political operatives, not moral leaders

So, these guys are actively working to make sure they never win an election after Trump, ever?

An odd choice. Guess they rather be in minority.
The minority elected Trump. Count solely on the exploitability of the electoral college at your own peril.

What utter B.S. Trump received the majority of the EC votes, and by a pretty big margin at that.

Actually one of the smaller margins in the history of the country.

-3,000,000 votes. And that was with a fired up GOP turnout and a depressed Democrat turnout.

Got that? Any of you Christian Trump supporters out there are "slimy political operatives." Does that make you all feel warm and cozy?

Just one look at this guy sets off alarm bells. Whats more, he's a former Dubya speechwriter. And then, watch this:

When our own side resorts to calling us names, it explains a lot about the so=called Deep State. It's not such a cockamamie story after all.

I totally agree with that.

I wondered before this thread about how much of Trump's evangelical support had to do with Obama and the black liberation theology. Obama's view of Zionism and Western Imperialism were directly tied to it. Audacity of Hope is a not subtle riff on Rev. Wright. Evangelicals are not a homogenous bunch, but overall only Mormons backed Trump by a greater % of religious groups.

Obama not only had that background of Christians using the bible to justify slavery and oppression, but he supported same sex marriage, which I think all evangelicals would find ... appalling. And then there's Hillary, not just with her defense of Bill, but her background in feminism. Hardly evangelical stuff. LOL

Imo, people were bamboozled into voting for Trump, but I wouldn't criticize anyone for choosing him over her. Usually I see a "better than worst choice" but I wasn't sure.

I don't pretend to really understand evangelicalism. I've read the common strain is a belief in Bible inerrancy, and using it as a guide to life decisions. I don't criticize that choice anymore than I'd criticize Oprah for saying God weighs in when "he" wants her to do something. But I don't see my religion as being so different from that as just semantics. I see the Bible as containing contradictions in specifics but consistent in generalities. I don't see God as directing human actions, but prayer can certainly focus one's mind in contemplation of a problem or choice.

The question is how does a person of Christian faith, or any faith based on the dignity and worth of the poorest of people, support Trump. Is it enough that he'll appoint Judges who'd overrule Roe?

Almost all won the popular. The EC has failed twice now this century, leading to Dubya who was a disaster we’re still paying for, and now a guy who sucks up to dictators and threatens our allies.

Well, considering Trump supporters admire Trump more because he was banging a porn star, I think maybe these folks have a point.

was it more or less than JFK or Jimmy Carter?

I love how sore-loser, butt-hurt, Pro-Felon Hillary snowflakes paint (Insult) Americans with huge, sweeping, generalizations like the OP does.

The OP, I am sure without intending to, calls Christian Sanders supporters who switched their support to Trump - after it was revealed Hillary and the DNC had stacked the deck, rigged primaries, cheated in debates, etc... - 'slimy political operatives, not moral leaders'.

The OP SEEMS to consider the candidate and liberals who violated election laws, violated election campaign finance laws, rigged primaries, cheated in debates, and engaged in election fraud in order to STEAL their party's nomination to be moral leaders.

That's rich....

more than those two.

They both turned out to the shitty presidents, a path that Trump is on as well. Perhaps there is a connection...

He was. Had he not been killed he would have went down as one of the worst.

LOL, that isn't worth a rebuttal. truly ignorant. Cuban missile crisis was one of those events in this country that didn't mean a thing to you I see.

The Bush crowd (which includes Willy Jeff, Bab's adopted son) will never forgive Trump for castrating Jebb!. It was his "turn" and Trump stole it from him....Even Dana Perino holds that grudge and if Trump ever stumbles they'll be on him like a pack of dingos.

I totally agree with that.

He was also one of the WH Iraq group charged with selling the Iraq invasion to the US. He seems remorseful about the outcome, but if he ever showed remorse and repentence for engaging in a campaign of lies to convince America that killing was justified ... I haven't seen it. At most he seems to now accept that using force to install democracies is a fools' errand.

But I think there's a irony hear, and he cannot see the cinder in his own eye.
