i'm still trying to figure out how he managed to have several casinos go belly up, when that biz'nez is designed so the 'house wins' & always makes a profit.

It's not complicated to understand at all. Trump didn't make business decision based on projected costs and realistic revenue stream predictions which are predicated on the available customer base. If he had, he would have known that x number of people on a monthly basis would have to spend y amount of money just to break even month after month. Instead, Trump made business decisions based on his ego's desire to have the biggest gambling mecca with numerous restaurants, and hundreds of hotel rooms. There just wasn't enough of a customer base to support such a large operation. It would be like building a 250 seat restaurant in a small town or building a large hotel on a poorly travelled road in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure that there were numerous people who tried to get him to scale down his operation to a more realistic and workable size, but Trump would not listen to them nor be deterred from his unrealistic vision. Like Sinatra and Elvis, Trump did it his way, and when it went south, he did what he always does: he blamed others for the failure.
