There will be no boots on the ground "invasion" of Iran. The strike on Soleimani was in retaliation for being the Iranian military leader behind the deaths of over 600 American soldiers in Iraq and Syria.

Iran has had eyes on Iraq ever since the Iran–Iraq War of 1980. They now see Iraq as a place they can use to base attacks on more American military personnel, which is why Soleimani was there in the first place.

We wasted too many lives and too much money to allow Iraq to become a base for their worldwide terrorism, and Iran just got schooled.
