U.S. Navy reroutes ship's commissioning outta Mississippi

Is there a major city in the south that doesn't have a military base and it's metro area?

It's funny how all these red states suck off the taxpayers.
Soldiers suck off of the taxpayers?

Let's shut these bases down. That will fix it.

The red states have all these bases that are a big part of their local economies .

Mississippi has like 17,000 active personnel .

Oregon has like 1,000

Check out this link. You can go state by state .

The monetary loss to Mississippi for the United States Navy holding the formal commissioning ceremony for the USS Portland is small potatoes compared to many-many other losses these stupid bigot laws will end up costing the bigot states but-----but even the Navy... ouch, Mississippi flaming?

U.S. Navy reroutes to Oregon for ship's commissioning

The USS Portland is a "San Antonio-class amphibious transport vessel currently being built at the Huntington Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi." Some Portland groups had previously been pushing for the ship to make it’s way to Portland, Oregon for the commissioning ceremony, but the new Mississippi law legalizing discrimination against its LGBT residents and visitors was the straw that broke the camel’s back:

After Portland Mayor Charlie Hales announced he refuses to travel to Mississippi next month to commission the USS Portland over the state's anti-gay laws, the Navy has announced the commissioning will take place in Portland

<snip>
.
Let's see. Let try to analyze the corrupt liberal mind. The ship is being built in Mississippi, the state that has no business. Portlandia's mayor won't go there now because Mississippi hurt his feelings and won't let him pee in the ladies room so the ceremony will take place in Portland, where it was destined to go. Which might be why they named it the USS Portland.
The USS Portland is not destined to go to Portland. It's homeport is going to be Little Creek, Virginia.
I'll try again, 'cause you're special.

USS Portland to be commissioned here in late 2017
The first US Navy vessel to be named exclusively after Portland will be commissioned here in late 2017.
Then what is this topic about?

You mean, ships are commissioned and the champagne is sacrificed at the shipyard they're built at?
Yes. Usually.

You don't suppose it could have anything to do with large open cheap land do you?

It makes no sense to have a large base in Oregon with Joint Base Lewis McCord in Tacoma, which is massive, fourth largest in the US with a population of 209,000 and the military has been consolidating bases for a while now. But please, send your concerns to the president.

Did you notice the date on your link?

It's dated yesterday.

Sooooo...the ship WAS going to be commissioned in Mississippi. It was not originally going to Portland. You were mistaken.

We have a corrupt government more concerned with social engineering than the well being of states. It's disgusting that our shitstain of a government does this.
So, did you ever score with a black woman? I know it's a social engineering trick..

I have never scored with any woman. Why would you imagine that I would have ever thought of scoring with a woman. Have you got your black wings yet? It's something you would want to do, with a big smelly one.

This government feels that men ass fucking one another is more important than the well being of the states. The purpose of the federal government is to protect the states, but the shitstain in the white hut will punish states to satisfy degenerates. Now there's a sight for you.

Bet DC would scream like a stuck pig if it had an attack and the people in Mississippi and North Carolina said "See ya".
Tipsy, what 'government' are you talking about? Near as I can tell, it is the government of the States that is doing all the legislating against gays. The 'bathroom' smoke screen is not swallowed by very many folks who see beneath the facade. OTOH, if objectors refuse to set foot in the area, those who DO support the disenfranchisement come out ahead by not being subject to the company of its critics in any way, shape or form, so a "Good riddance!" is in order on both sides. Win/win.

Why are all these sick sexual perverts getting all this attention? I'll tell you why. We live in a Godless, immoral, weak, sick society. That's why.
