U.S. Wind Industry First Quarter 2014(bad news)

The Right offers nothing except more fossil fuels. They've always fought progress.
We subsidize oil and nuclear, and that they approve of.

Many industries received subsidies to get started. If we push the technology it will grow. A single major breakthrough can change the game overnight. There is probably not going to be any significant breakthrough technologies in coal or nuclear.

Which industries received subsidies to get started?

Aircraft. Nuclear. Medical. Pharmacetical. Farmers west of the Mississippi. Railroads. And plenty of others. Unfortunate that you are so ignorant of your nations history. Doesn't help that you are also stupid, since you have the means sitting right in front of you to rectify that ignorance.

Do you people have any idea of how much nuclear is subsidized by the government?

Nuke is on demand 24/7. It's WORTH IT!

Until one fails catastrophically.

Geothermal is 24/7, at less cost. Solar thermal is 24/7, with less danger. Wind turbines, when taken in aggregate across the nation are 24/7. And solar puts out at precisely the time of maximum demand. Nukes are very expensive power, and must be properly sited to avoid Fukashima type disasters.

What we will end up with as we phase out fossil fuels is an 'all of the above' grid. And a gride that can pick up a homeowners 3 kw or a nuke stations 2 gw. And everything in between. We just have to shovel the No Can Do 'Conservatives' out of the way, and get the job done.

Solar thermal is far from 24/7, if it were they wouldn't need fossil fuel backups. Same go's for wind. Nuke plants do have their issues but other than Chernobyl and Fukushima they have a very good track record. TMI suffered a meltdown but the unaffected reactor is STILL operational, in fact it was relicensed for another 20 years back in 2009 IIRC.

:lol::lol: Tell that to the Wright brothers, Glen Curtiss, the Lockheed brothers, Boeing, and a whole host of other aviation companies. Until WWI there WAS no government money. And then it was merely to procure trainers and fighters. Between the wars the aviation companies died in their hundreds....

WWII saved a whole bunch of them...and once again, it wasn't R&D, it was basic procurement. The R&D was purely private investment.

my car runs on electricity…you can run your car on oil if you'd like…but please don't make the mistake of thinking the rest of us are required to cough up our hard earned money to the corner extortion store for some smelly liquid fuels when we really don't need, or want, to.

And where does that electricity come from…

Last year? 13.8% wind. About 20% solar panels on my roof. Another 40% solar panels from work. The rest is coal and natural gas.
