uh,ooh Obama is in trouble again. Speeches are not working

How about we just try out the Constitution and see how it goes? The Founding Fathers put a lot of time and effort into it... Even gave us a way to alter it via the Amendment process...

It would be nice to give it a chance for once...

If the Constitution dictated an economic system, I might agree with you. But it doesn't. It establishes a political system.

So why would anything require amendment to allow a comibination of capitalism and some socialst principles to temper the results of unrestrained capitalism?

Not to mention that the nation's economic system at that time WAS a combination of capitalist and socialist principles (and has been ever since).

Trying to hold us to the economic principles of the 18th century is asinine

America in the late 1700s was an agrarian economy. People lived off the land, had small farms and lived off of barter and whatever they could scrape up. When our country was created, the monetary system was not trusted. Taxes were levied on property, that was all you could trust at the time

The industrial revolution of the late 19th century and early 20th created a working class of Americans and made us the great nation we are today. What helped to make us great was our economic system evolving to meet the needs of an emerging economic power

It's time for Obama to increase hit time on the air. People are not responding to his lies ehough.

Or he should start telling the truth.

Very right. The twin engines that drive history are centralization and technology. The incredible expansion of the second since 1750 has increased the incredible growth of government and business, particularly since 1900. The republic as we knew it as children is gone.

Corporatism, hiding behind the cries for "free market forces" and "individual choice", will try to manipulate shell governments that exploit electorates for the gratification of corporations and governmental elites. This is what the Rush Limbaughs are all about.

Where we will end up, I have no idea, but the republic is gone and will not becoming back.

And again, you accuse Mr Obama of "lying".

Please feel free to give an example of one "lie" Mr Obama has told since his presidency began.

Absolutely. My only point was that even then there were socialist elements with the economic system. In reality, they have been necessary throughout human history and it's likely they always will be.

The industrial revolution of the late 19th century and early 20th created a working class of Americans and made us the great nation we are today. What helped to make us great was our economic system evolving to meet the needs of an emerging economic power
The Industrial Revolution wrought huge changes in Europe as well. America didn't become the biggest beneficiary until after the World Wars destroyed most of Europe's factories.

No, ONE will be fine. Thanks.

Just make sure it's a LIE, not some BS interpretation of what he said, from some right-wing nutjob propaganda site.

I see you couldn't find one. Funny that.

Dude, I have my priorities, and you're not one of them. You know, kids, wife, etc...

For a start, my grandfather died in WWII.

Obama's uncle liberated Auschwitz. Is it truth or a lie?

I think it's not just a lie. It's an insult to all that gave their lives in WWII. What do you think?

Mixing up the names "Auschwitz" and "Buchenwald", both concetration camps, is not a "lie" it is a mistake. You know, like when Bush mis-spoke and said things like "Is our children learning".

Or did you think Bush was being literal when he said "Gynocologists want to share their love with our women"?

Be that as it may, I said "Since he became president".

Ame®icano is the one lying here. He is engaged in a deliberate effort to deceive and distort. That is lying. You far rightoid stoopid cons, Amer, should try working with the truth and facts to carry your point. Such a tard.

It's not just any mistake. In his speech in Cairo, he said this: "Tomorrow, I will visit Buchenwald, which was part of a network of camps where Jews were enslaved, tortured, shot and gassed to death by the Third Reich. Six million Jews were killed – more than the entire Jewish population of Israel today."

No disrespect for Jewish people here, but Buchwald was not camp for Jews. People locked up at Buchenwald were political prisoners, Jehovah’s witnesses, gypsies, homosexuals, common criminals...

So he made it up. You can do that to people who don't know much about history. To some people you can tell that you visited 57 states, one more to go.

You want recent one? There are plenty on this board. Let's pick one, let's say, there will be no tax hike. True or lie?

This is part where you should bring some proof that I am lying.

I believe Buchenwald was where Eli Weisel was imprisoned.

last i checked, he wasn't a political prisoner. and it was "part of a network" of camps. I could be wrong. But I don't think so.

I just did a quick google. And from what I saw (briefly mind you), it seems that Buchenwald was as you described at the beginning of the war. As things progressed, they started to ship Austrian jews there. Technically, it wasn't a "death camp" in the sense that Auschwicz was, but almost 60,000 people died.... many due to the fact that it was one of the places where they "tested" vaccines. many due to being shot in the back of the head.

And while you're correct that initially it was mostly political prisoners, the proportion of other prisoners increased dramatically as the war went on.
