Every job for which I have applied in the past several decades, one of the forms the employer is required to have me fill out is the I-9, which requires me to provide documents proving that I am eligible to work in this country. In my case, I provide my Driver's License and my Socialist inSecurity Card, which show me to be a citizen. Is there any valid set of documents that I, as a citizen, or anyone else as an eligible none-citizen show, to establish eligibility to work, that would not reveal one's citizenship/immigration status?

It seems, here, that the situation has been set up where an employer cannot avoid acting in a manner that will be deemed illegal. The I-( is required by federal law, and an employer can get in trouble for failing to require it of every employee, but now, it appears that the employer can equally get in trouble for requiring it as well. Surely, there is some case to be brought before the courts, on the basis that it must be illegal to put anyone in such a conflict between two opposing laws, so that he has no way of avoiding illegality.
