Since Zappa is the easy answer, I'll reiterate my answer from a couple days ago.....

His voice could go from baritone to tenor and back at the drop of a hat without cracking, and was among the last of the breed of singer/songwriters.

Arthur Barrow. He's the bass player on so many Zappa solos. I'm not a musician and don't have big musical ears - but, the Zappa/Barrow/Colaiuta combo on ShutUpNPlayYerGuitar is otherworldly. I spoke with Arthur on an old school Internet Bulletin Board and he's a wonderful and very humble guy

I will admit that he was an artistic genius, but I wasn't into Zappa and the Mothers on Invention much while he was alive.

Country music guitar player Brad Paisley turned 50 years old just a few days ago and he has been on the radio since 1999.
