President Trump's decision to fire 59 Tomahawk missiles into Syria in retaliation for an alleged Assad chemical attack is said by the president to be in the "vital national security interest of the United States." Does he think Syria is about to attack us?

Yeah, I noted that phrase too.

It is, at most, of indirect national security interest to us. There was no threat, and even Trump said why he did it.

It's more likely just the best excuse they could up with.

If overseas chemical weapons use doesn't matter to the USA, why did Obama draw his red (pink) line?

the strikes were just an act of human decency and common sense, long overdue too.
also a reminder than saddam caused the same fate. i'm glad he's dead.
