SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - In apparent acts of “sabotage” in the South Bay early Tuesday, someone cut fiber optic cables, knocking out some 911 service, and then fired a rifle at a PG&E substation, Santa Clara County’s sheriff said.
The vandal’s objective appears to have been “shutting down the system,” Sheriff Laurie Smith said at a news conference at the substation Tuesday afternoon.

They seek to sap the vitality of a society by acts of sabotage that do not kill people (hence my addition of the phrase passive-aggressive).
It's not a very effective means of advancing changes to a society gone wrong.
Generally all it does is make the government even more oppressive than it had been.
Of course, for some serious revolutionaries, that is the whole point of moneky-wrenching, isn't it?
To make the government OVER REACT and thus, piss off even more people. People who presumably will then JOIN the revolution to overthrow the government.
I do not approve of this technique EXCEPT in cases where a nation is OCCUPIED by a foreign government.

Wow, been watching MSNBC or did you just forget to take yer Meds this morning? That's a Grade A Looney Rant!What would you expect to see happen in a country where one side of the political and ideological aisle has been subjected to nearly 5 years of unrelenting lies, hateful conspiracy theories, fear mongering and racial distrust? Who thinks the pump can be primed with division, hatred, bigotry and fear and nothing will happen? Who believes the other side of the aisle won't respond in kind, leading to violence, death and destruction?
There are consequences for the unending stream of lies, fear-mongering and cynicism put out by the likes of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and FOX. And, the purveyors of that bilge know exactly what those consequences are and are planning for it.
You want a conspiracy theory? Here's you one: Those who are manipulating opinion on the fringe right WANT violence, they WANT you angry, they WANT you scared, they WANT death and destruction so they can ride to the rescue to "save" the country from socialism/progressivism/communism/Obama/Soros/Pelosi/Reid or whoever. Unable to win elections any more, they'll simply take power and expect you to support them.
