Visiting veterans in wheelchairs storm closed war memorials

Hey @rdean, want to know how desperate Obama is?

Take a look at this picture.

See that? No fences, no gates, no ticket collection points, just open area in a park. Yet Obama ordered it closed, even though he knew that Honor Flight was bringing the veteran's in and had a specific request not to block access to it.

The White House and the Department of the Interior rejected a request from Rep. Steven Palazzo’s office to have World War II veterans visit the World War II memorial in Washington, the Mississippi Republican told The Daily Caller Tuesday.
Palazzo helped the veterans commit an act of civil disobedience against the Park Service Tuesday, when the heroes stormed through barricades around the closed memorial. (Related: WWII vets storm closed memorial as GOP congressman reportedly distracts cops)
The veterans were visiting the memorial as part of Honor Flight, a non-profit that provides veterans free transport to the nation’s capital to visit the memorials to the wars they fought in.
“We got the heads up that they will be barricaded and specifically asked for an exception for these heroes,” Palazzo told TheDC. “We were denied and told, ‘It’s a government shutdown, what do you expect?’ when we contacted the liaison for the White House.”

And you support him.

You support Obama shutting down scenery to score political points.

You support Obama denying veterans access to a memorial dedicated to them in order to score political points.

Take a look at this and tell me why it needed to be barricaded. Take a look at this and tell me how Republicans hate old people and veterans. Take a look at this and admit you are a complete hack, and apologize to the universe for your existence.

Who closed it down? What is it...a merry go round? A roller coaster? A water hazard? Are there sharp edges that could amputate a leg? Roaming animals? It's just Obabble busting the balls of regular people...and in this case, WW2 vets...a disgrace....and foolish.

Visiting veterans storm closed war memorials - The Washington Post

The elderly veterans piled off the chartered buses in front of the World War II Memorial, some in wheelchairs, some using canes, all determined to pay homage to each other and their fallen comrades from more than half a century ago.

Metal barricades and signs announcing a closure due to the shutdown of the federal government awaited them.

Just the beginning. Remember when Boehner said he got 98% of everything he wanted, but when the economy was downgraded, it was Obama's fault?

The GOP Teanut plan isn't to help the country, the plan is to bring it down.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Those were Mississippi boys from the Greatest Generation who would not stand for Narcissis Obama's latest prank....his latest scheme to "fundamentally change America".

rdean, you are nor fit to sniff the ass of those great American warriors from WWII who came to pay their respects to their fallen comrades...and who were to be turned away by the artful machinations of the most despicable administration in American history.

I hope everyone will read the article cited by the piece of shit rdean which he cited for some perverted reason gone much awry.

The Soldiers who were to carry out Obama's orders declined to carry them out, and let the great old men pass into the Memorial built in their honor.

This was a sad event for America. The memorial was always open 24/7. Nothing could be stolen. Those who read and understand this article---will know how seared and depraved is the conscience of the slime we have in the White House.

164 Democrats just voted to deny any funding to the VA, is your representative's name on the list?

As the federal government shutdown neared the end of its first business day, the House failed to pass a series of separate bills to restart funding for national parks, veterans' services and the city of Washington, D.C.
Republicans are currently trying to reopen popular parts of the government by offering money to fund entities such as national parks, but the Democrats are comparing that to a "release-one-hostage-at-a-time strategy," insisting the full government be funded rather than doing it one piece at a time. NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reports

The measures, designed to eliminate some of the most unpopular consequences of the ongoing shutdown, required a two-thirds majority vote under the House's rules.
Democrats remained mostly united against the funding bills, which they argued amounted to the GOP's "cherry-picking" of politically palatable federal spending while ignoring the problems of the larger government funding lapse.

Latest GOP shutdown proposal fails; no separate funding for vets, parks - NBC Politics

Description of Red Herring

A Red Herring is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. The basic idea is to "win" an argument by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic. This sort of "reasoning" has the following form:

Topic A is under discussion.
Topic B is introduced under the guise of being relevant to topic A (when topic B is actually not relevant to topic A).
Topic A is abandoned.

This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because merely changing the topic of discussion hardly counts as an argument against a claim.

Now, where were we? Oh yeah. . . .

There are also the park rangers who explain the significance of what you're looking at, those that will clean up the litter, on stand-by for violence/vandalism, etc at the National Monuments. In National Parks it's a bit more dicey with staircases, lighted paths, lodges, mitigation experts etc..

If this goes on for a couple of weeks, I may take a week off and go out to the Canyon. Fall/Winter is not only the best time to visit in my view but it's also the time when you can see a lot more wildlife. After a few weeks off, the trails will be rehabilitated. Nice. They should shut down some parks for 2 weeks every year in my view. Monuments; not so much.

It's high time this regime learns the monuments belong to the people not the fucking government. Spending money to errect barriers to block normal outside access is typical of the dear leader to try to make things worse than they really are. FUCK HIM!

FUCK HIM!, oooooooooww, i like that idea..., :lmao: with a red hot iron fence post

Fear not America

All is well with the shutdown....Vets got to see their memorial

Nothing to see here

What he said ^

What you FAILED to mention in your OP is that this memorial is ALWAYS OPEN. When the government was going to be shut down by the DEMOCRATS the first thing they did was send the park police out there to erect barricades to keep people out. But a REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN who was with the honor flight, MOVED THE BARRICADES allowing access for the hero's of the greatest generation. A park policeman who was there said that he was a vet as well and he was NOT going to stop those hero's from seeing that memorial.

So why barricade a memorial that IS ALWAYS OPEN? Because if the honor flight had been turned away then it would have made the 5:00PM NBC news and they would have blamed it on the republicans, of course. What a photo op. But the congressman foiled that scenario.

This isn't going by the script the media and Democrats want it to go by. It's not a complete lock for the Democrats in their trying to blame the Republicans. Not like it was in 1995 when the country solidly blamed Republicans for a government shutdown. At least President Clinton had a clue. Barry? Not so much...

Perhaps, since you love going off on a different tangent when you get caught with your bullshit.. you should go and READ the little things like the riders that were attached to said bills as poison pills so that your little asshole lefties could then scream bloody murder about some REP 'voting 'against' veterans

Asshole prick.. go kill yourself

Oh.. so that government police function is NOT shut down??

Say it isn't so!!!! Obamalama LIED??!!??

These veterans came by bus all the way from Mississippi.

Reublicans are thumping their chests saying....we really showed Obama
Vets got to see the WWII memorial
Our shutdown didn't hurt anyone

That is a long bus ride to see one memorial. The WWII memorial is good for about an hour of reflection. Those vets did not get to visit the Air and Space museum where they could have seen aircraft from the war, they did not get to visit the USMC museum (GREAT museum by the way), the American History museum......ALL shut down in a Republican hissy fit
